Before opening a door during a fire emergency, feel the door, doorknob, and around the door frame with the back of your hand. If any part feels hot, do not open the door.

A hot door may indicate that fire is burning on the other side. Leave the door closed and use your alternate escape route. If the door is cool, open it slowly and be prepared to close it immediately if you encounter smoke or flames. Always have two ways out of every room whenever possible.

β€ŽIN PHOTOS | Duty personnel of Olongapo City Fire Station spearheaded by FSSUPT BERNARD T ROSETE, DSC - Acting Regional Director, BFP R3, under the supervision of FSSUPT JEANNETTE D JUSAYAN, DSC - Provincial Fire Marshal - Zambales, and with the guidance of FSUPT JOSIE G LISING, swiftly responded to a reported chemical leak incident at the Vatan Animal Hospital & Grooming Center Corp., Brgy. West Bajac-Bajac.

β€ŽDue to the potential hazard, nearby residents were immediately advised to evacuate while the joint response teams quickly established the Incident Command Post (ICP) and Decontamination Area.

β€ŽThrough a precise and technical Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Operation, the situation was successfully mitigated.

β€ŽHere is a concise summary of the HazMat operations:

β€ŽDetection & Mitigation: The BFP HazMat team located a pipe leak and identified the presence of Carbon Monoxide, which was then safely dispersed using tactical flushing and ventilation.
β€Ž
β€ŽSafety & Decontamination: Responders followed strict multi-stage decontamination protocols when exiting the hazardous zone to prevent any chemical spread.
β€Ž
β€ŽAfter rendering the area thoroughly safe, the scene was formally turned over to the City Health Office (CHO), represented by Dr. Zero Mella, and the Office of the Building Official (OBO), represented by Building Inspector Engr. Dick Relator, for further evaluation and safety clearances.

β€ŽThis successful operation was made possible by the rapid and highly coordinated response of our BFP firefighters and the Olongapo CDRRMO rescue teams.

In line with the 7-Day Mode of Activities, every Tuesday is dedicated to the conduct of office inspections to maintain a safe, secure, and well-organized working environment. These inspections are undertaken to ensure proper office management, reduce unnecessary electricity usage, prevent unauthorized or excessive operation of office equipment, strengthen workplace safety measures, improve operational efficiency, and promote responsible resource management.

Immediately thereafter, a rank inspection was conducted at the station grounds to ensure the strict adherence and observance to the standard guidelines of proper grooming and wearing of BFP uniform and its accoutrements.
