DICT Romblon continues to strengthen digital literacy and innovation in the province through a successful two-day training held on April 29–30, 2026. Hosted at the Tech4ED Center of the Romblon National Institute of Technology (RNIT) Alcantara, the session equipped participants with essential tools for today’s technological landscape.

Day 1: Arduino & Robotics
Participants explored the fundamentals of electronics and circuit building. Through hands-on programming, learners gained a deeper understanding of how hardware and software integrate to create real-world smart solutions.

Day 2: AI & Cybersecurity
The training transitioned to digital creativity and safety. Attendees explored AI tools for multimedia content generation—vital for modern marketing—followed by a critical session on cybersecurity best practices, from phishing recognition to data protection.

DICT Romblon continues to strengthen digital literacy and innovation in the province through a two-day training held on April 29–30, 2026, at the Tech4ED Center of RNIT Alcantara. Organized by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Romblon, the activity aimed to equip participants with essential skills in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape. The initiative was made possible through the invitation and support of Romblon National Institute of Technology (RNIT).

On the first day, participants were introduced to Arduino, where they learned the fundamentals of electronics, circuit building, and basic programming. The session included hands-on activities such as assembling simple circuits, exploring sensors and outputs, and writing code to control devices—giving learners a deeper appreciation of how hardware and software integrate in real-world applications.

The second day focused on Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, offering participants both creative and practical digital skills. In the AI session, participants explored how modern tools can be used to generate images, videos, and even music, which they can apply in creating engaging content for business advertisements and promotions. This highlighted the growing role of AI in entrepreneurship and digital marketing. Meanwhile, the cybersecurity session provided essential guidance on protecting personal accounts and sensitive information, including best practices for strong passwords, recognizing phishing attempts, enabling security features, and preventing common hacking incidents. Through these discussions, participants gained valuable knowledge on how to responsibly use technology while ensuring their safety in the online environment.

Through this initiative, DICT Romblon continues its mission to empower the future generation by promoting responsible use of technology and enhancing awareness on online safety. It also enhances monitoring and record-keeping, making operations more organized and efficient. Overall, the eLGU System has greatly improved service delivery and client satisfaction in our LGU.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) – Romblon conducted the PNPKI Orientation and User’s Training for the Provincial Government of Romblon on April 27, 2026, via Zoom. The activity aimed to help participants better understand secure digital transactions using the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI).

During the session, participants were introduced to the basics of PNPKI and its importance in keeping online communications secure. They were also guided on how to use digital certificates for signing documents and accessing systems safely and efficiently.

The training included simple, step-by-step demonstrations and hands-on exercises to help participants become more familiar with the PNPKI system. It also highlighted the importance of practicing good cybersecurity to protect sensitive information.

This initiative shows DICT Romblon’s commitment to supporting government offices in adopting secure and reliable digital solutions. By equipping personnel with the right knowledge and tools, the program helps improve safe and efficient delivery of e-Government services in the province.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) - Romblon, in partnership with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), successfully conducted a two-day training session titled "Safe Spaces Online: Digital Literacy and Cyber Hygiene Training for Children" from April 22 to 23, 2026. Held at the DICT Romblon Provincial Tech4Ed Center, the program aimed to equip the younger generation with essential skills for the modern world.

The training began with an introduction to basic computer operations, providing children with a clear understanding of how to use technology effectively. To keep the learners engaged, the program featured various interactive activities that allowed them to apply their new knowledge in a practical and fun environment. These session also emphasized the importance of cyber hygiene, teaching the participants how to protect their personal information and maintain safety while exploring online platforms.

Foja guided participants through the basics of social media marketing, emphasizing strategies for building visibility and connecting with target audiences across platforms. Adding to the session, Mr. Oliver V. Musca, Jr. facilitated hands-on learning on product photography and smartphone videography techniques. Participants explored simple yet effective methods to produce visually compelling content using accessible tools, enabling them to better showcase their products online.

Under the ICT Industry Development Bureau (IIDB), the training session focused on transforming how local entrepreneurs present their brands online through expert-guided modules. Ms. Wenna Mae Q. Foja opened the discussion with a comprehensive introduction to visual storytelling and the nuances of content creation for social media, providing participants with the creative framework needed to engage modern audiences. Complementing these strategies, Mr. Oliver V. Musca, Jr. provided technical expertise on product photography, teaching business owners how to capture high-quality images that highlight the best features of their products. The Digital Biz: Merchant Account Onboarding and Content Creation program was successfully held on April 20, 2026, in Odiongan, Romblon, bringing together local entrepreneurs to enhance their digital skills and readiness in today’s evolving business landscape.

Mr. Orville F. Mallorca, OIC Provincial Director, delivered the opening message, emphasizing the importance of adopting digital tools and platforms to improve business competitiveness and expand market reach.

Participants benefited from a series of informative sessions led by resource speakers. Ms. Evangeline Fregon discussed GCash for Business and its role in enabling secure and convenient digital transactions. Ms. Wenna Mae Q. Foja of DICT Romblon introduced the basics of social media marketing, providing practical strategies for building an effective online presence. Meanwhile, Mr. Oliver V. Musca, Jr. covered cybersecurity awareness to help safeguard digital operations, along with smartphone videography techniques to enhance content creation for marketing purposes.

The program aimed to equip MSMEs with relevant knowledge and practical skills in digital finance, online marketing, and content creation—key components in thriving within the digital economy.
