DOST Romblon served as a resource person during the Basic GeoRisk Hazard Capacity Building for the teaching and non-teaching personnel and selected learners of Don Carlos National High School in San Fernando, Romblon, an activity conducted by the Department of Education (DepEd) Romblon.
The activity aims to enhance participantsโ knowledge on GeoRiskPH application and guided on how to navigate and utilize its features to access hazard information and better understand the risks present in their communities. As part of the activity, participants were also provided with information on geologic hazards, including earthquakes, landslides, and other GeoRisk-related hazards.
Developed by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the GeoRiskPH application provides accessible hazard and risk information that can support communities and institutions in understanding and preparing for various geologic hazards. Through the application, users can access science-based information that may aid in hazard identification, risk assessment, preparedness, mitigation, and appropriate response actions.
Through this capacity-building initiative, DOST Romblon continues to promote the use of science, technology, and innovation in strengthening disaster preparedness and resilience, helping school communities become better equipped to understand and respond to geologic hazards.
