On December 21, 2023, the Alternative Learning System (ALS) Teachers of the Division of Aklan orchestrated a heartwarming gift-giving activity, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of ALS learners and Persons Deprived of Liberty at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Nalook, Kalibo, Aklan.
This benevolent initiative became a reality through the ingenuity of the ALS-Aklan Teachers, who envisioned a "King & Queen of ALS Royalty for a Cause." This concept not only added a touch of regality but also succeeded in raising a substantial amount dedicated to the gift-giving endeavor. The altruism extended further, with employees and officials of the Schools Division Office of Aklan generously contributing financial support.
A total of 175 inmates reaped the benefits of this Christmas gift-giving project, a testament to the collective spirit of compassion within the community. Before the distribution commenced, a program unfolded at two in the afternoon. JINSP Rolyn Malolos, Jail Warden Officer-MD, delivered a warm welcome message, setting the tone for an afternoon filled with camaraderie and joy.
The atmosphere resonated with festive cheer as selected BJMP Persons Deprived of Liberty graced the occasion with Christmas songs, infusing the event with the spirit of the season. Mr. Johann C. Cawaling, Education Program Supervisor for ALS, shared a heartfelt Christmas message while Mr. Hajji S. Tropa, Education Program Specialist for ALS, conveyed a message of hope, emphasizing the transformative power of education and goodwill.
Mrs. Maria Theresa Lim Lao, ALS Education Program Specialist, was also present, embodying the commitment of the ALS community to make a positive impact beyond traditional educational boundaries. This gift-giving activity not only brought smiles to faces but also highlighted the profound effect that collective generosity can have in uplifting the spirits of those facing challenging circumstances.
