In a global show of solidarity, DENR PENRO Guimaras carried out environmental actions centered on the theme "Our Power, Our Planet" earlier today, April 22, 2026. Under the leadership of PENR Officer Julieta Gabayeron, the office conducted a marine litter trash audit at Piagau Island within the Taklong and Tandog Group of Islands Natural Park. This effort, held in collaboration with the UP Visayas Marine Biological Station, involved 16 participants from PENRO Guimaras and DOLE GIP- with 7 males and 9 females. The audit led to sorting and accounting of 24.27 kg of plastic waste, highlighting the transboundary nature of marine pollution from various Southeast Asian nations. Together, these activities underscore a firm commitment to proactive environmental stewardship and data-driven conservation across Guimaras.
