PNP KEEPS WATCH AS BARMM ELECTION OPERATIONS ENTER FINAL PHASE

Under the leadership of PGen Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), the PNP continues to maintain security, monitoring, and coordination as election-related activities in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) move toward completion.

As of 4:52 AM today, 1,168 of the 1,186 monitored polling places, or 98.48 percent, have completed the termination of voting. The remaining areas are being closely monitored as the electoral process continues. Notably, 13 voting centers that experienced delays following incidents involving pre-shaded ballots commenced voting this morning after the necessary replacement ballots arrived, allowing voting to proceed in the affected areas.

The return of election paraphernalia has reached 87.77% with 1,041 polling places having completed the process, while 64.34% of monitored canvassing activities have already been completed.

The PNP continues to coordinate with concerned authorities and maintain appropriate security coverage in areas where transmission, counting, return of election paraphernalia, and canvassing remain ongoing. Police units are also sustaining monitoring to ensure that emerging concerns are addressed promptly and that the remaining activities proceed in an orderly manner.

“The voting may be winding down, but our responsibility does not end there. We are keeping our personnel engaged and our lines of coordination open until the remaining election activities are completed. Dito tayo kailangang steady—alert, coordinated, and ready to respond when needed,” PGen Nartatez said.

The sustained police presence is part of the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly through Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO), which enables continuous monitoring, timely coordination, and responsive police action throughout the different stages of the electoral process. This supports the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in maintaining a peaceful and orderly environment for the exercise and completion of the democratic process.

PNP STRENGTHENS POLICE RESPONSE AS COMMON CRIME VICTIMIZATION FALLS TO 10%, SWS REPORTS

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the command of PGen Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief PNP, is taking the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey results as an important reference in sustaining police efforts against crime while responding to emerging threats, particularly those occurring in the digital space.

The June 2026 SWS survey showed that 10% percent of Filipino families reported victimization by common crimes within the past six months, a decline from 12.3% in March. Victimization involving property crimes likewise eased from 11.5% to 9.1%.

For PGen Nartatez, the figures are encouraging while also underscoring the need to sustain police presence and remain responsive to concerns being felt by communities.

“We take the improvement as encouragement, but not as a reason to become complacent. The important thing is to understand what the numbers are telling us and translate that into better police work. Kung may mga stratehiya na gumagana at epektibo, we sustain them; kung may kailangang baguhin, we act on them.”

At the same time, the survey recorded a rise in reported cybercrime victimization, reaching 8% in June from 5.8% in March, underscoring the growing need to protect the public not only in physical communities but also in the digital environment.

The PNP, through the Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG), continues to strengthen its response to cyber-related offenses while reminding the public to remain vigilant against online scams, account hacking, cyberbullying, and other forms of digital victimization. Police units nationwide are likewise directed to remain responsive to community concerns and strengthen police presence in residential areas and public spaces.

PGen Nartatez emphasized that the changing nature of crime requires the police organization to remain adaptable and forward-looking.

“Crime does not stay in one form, and neither should our response. We have to be where the people need us—on the streets, in communities, and increasingly in the digital space. We will continue to improve our capabilities while working closely with the public, because public safety is something we build together.”

These efforts are consistent with the PNP Focused Agenda and the Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO), which provide the framework for using crime information, operational assessment, and community feedback to improve police deployment and decision-making.

The PNP recognizes that public safety is measured not only by reported crime figures but also by the confidence of communities in their police service. Under the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the organization will continue working with local governments, other government agencies, and communities to address both traditional and emerging security concerns.

PNP: VOTING ONGOING IN 98.90% OF BARMM CENTERS

The casting of votes in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) is proceeding generally peacefully and orderly, with 1,173 of the 1,186 monitored voting centers, or 98.90 percent, currently conducting the voting process.

As of 4:00 PM, only 13 of the 1,186 monitored voting centers have yet to begin the casting of votes, all of which are located in Basilan.

Under the leadership of PGen Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief, Philippine National Police (PNP), police personnel remain deployed across the six parliamentary areas to provide security and police assistance while closely monitoring developments as voting continues.

The PNP is maintaining close coordination with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), local authorities, and other partner agencies to ensure that voters, teachers and election personnel, and other stakeholders can carry out their respective duties in a safe and orderly environment.

“We are not only securing the voting centers; we are also making sure that our personnel remain responsive to the needs on the ground throughout the voting period. Our duty is to help preserve a peaceful environment where every voter can exercise their right to vote without unnecessary concern or disruption,” PGen Nartatez said.

The PNP continues to monitor all areas and is prepared to provide necessary police assistance as voting progresses, particularly in areas where the process has yet to begin. Police units will remain on heightened vigilance through the completion of voting and the succeeding election-related activities.

PNP SECURES 100% DELIVERY OF ELECTION PARAPHERNALIA IN BARMM

Under the leadership of PGen Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief, Philippine National Police (PNP), the PNP has secured the movement and delivery of election paraphernalia to all 1,186 monitored voting centers across the six parliamentary areas of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), supporting the orderly conduct of voting on Monday.

As of 1:00 PM, all 1,186 deliveries have been completed, covering 189 voting centers in Basilan, 252 in Lanao del Sur, 224 in Maguindanao del Sur, 183 in Tawi-Tawi, 271 in Maguindanao del Norte, and 67 in the Special Geographic Area.

Police personnel provided security and police assistance during the movement of the election paraphernalia, in coordination with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), local authorities, and other partner agencies, to help ensure their safe and timely delivery to the designated voting centers.

“Our personnel worked closely with COMELEC and our local partners to provide the necessary security during the movement of the election paraphernalia. Completing the delivery to all monitored voting centers is an important step in supporting the orderly conduct of the elections,” PGen Nartatez said.

He emphasized that the PNP’s election security mission continues throughout the voting period.

“We have completed this phase of our security mission, but our work continues. Our personnel remain on the ground, maintaining security and closely monitoring developments until the voting period is completed. We remain committed to providing the necessary police support for a peaceful and orderly election,” PGen Nartatez added.
