A powerful reminder that kindness can save lives, words can heal, and every young person deserves to feel safe, heard, and valued.

The Local Government Unit of New Washington through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Ms. Marichu R. Dantes in coordination with the New Washington Municipal Police Station and Municipal Health Office have successfully conducted a Mental Health Advocacy to the Alternative Learning System students in the Municipality of New Washington.

Through meaningful discussions and awareness-building, participants were reminded about Mental Health Awareness conducted by Mr. Emmanuel Andrade, Nurse II/Mental Health Program Coordnlinator of the Municipal Health Office, he discuss how to understand emotions, recognizing signs of emotional distress, and knowing when and where to seek help; and Bullying Prevention which was discussed by PSSG Kattyrine M. Valencia of the WCPD-New Washington MPS which promoted respect, empathy, and kindness while encouraging young people to speak up and seek help when bullying occurs.

A productive day for strengthening our commitment to gender-responsive governance and child protection! 💙

The 3rd Quarter Gender and Development (GAD) Meeting and 3rd Quarter LCPC–LCAT-VAWC Meeting were successfully conducted back-to-back last August 13, 2026, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss programs, plans, updates, and actions that promote gender equality, child protection, and a safer and more inclusive community.

Through continuous coordination and collaboration, we move closer to a community where every woman, child, and family is protected, empowered, and heard.

Today, the Local Government Unit of New Washington together with the different Academe, Youth Sectors, New Washington Municipal Police Station and various establishment owners stand together in observance of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons through the Blue Heart Advocacy Campaign 2026 with the theme:

“Trapped Behind the Scam”

This full packed activity includes IEC distribution of LCAT-VAWC members to the transport sectors in the Municipality and followed by an orientation on the salient features of Republic Act 11862 by Atty. Flora B. Almero, a member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines and Soroptimist International of Kalibo and Cybercrime Prevention Act by Atty. Reynaldo B. Peralta Jr. of the Provincial Prosecutors Office.

Human trafficking can hide behind fake job offers, online scams, and false promises. Through this advocacy, we aim to raise awareness, empower our communities, and strengthen our collective commitment to prevent trafficking in persons.

Together, let us recognize the signs, protect the vulnerable, report suspicious activities, and help end human trafficking. Every voice matters. Every action counts.

VOICES OF ABILITY 2026 | Celebrating Talent, Inclusion, and Equal Opportunities ❤️

Today, the Municipality of New Washington proudly joined the nation in celebrating the 48th National Disability Rights Week today through the “Voices of Ability 2026: New Washington PWD Singing Competition” held at the Manuel C. Peralta Community Center.

The activity was more than just a singing competition. It was a celebration of courage, determination, and the incredible talents of our Persons with Disabilities. Each participant took the stage with confidence, reminding everyone that ability is not defined by physical limitations but by passion, perseverance, and the strength to inspire others.

The performances filled the venue with music, hope, and joy, creating an atmosphere where everyone was encouraged to appreciate diversity and embrace inclusion. Every song echoed the message that every individual deserves equal opportunities, respect, and the chance to showcase their unique gifts.

This meaningful celebration also reaffirmed our commitment to this year’s National Disability Rights Week theme: “Rights First, Legislation Forward: Strategic Action for Equal Participation and Inclusive Development.”

The Local Government Unit of New Washington extends its heartfelt gratitude to all participants, judges, organizers, volunteers, partner agencies, and everyone who contributed to the success of this event. The Municipality of New Washington, through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office successfully conducted the Food for Work Payout for 322 beneficiaries who actively participated in the rehabilitation and maintenance of Project LAWA and Project BINHI sites and school based vegetable garden.

This initiative recognizes the hard work and dedication of our beneficiaries while promoting food security, environmental protection, and community resilience. Through their collective efforts, vegetable gardens and water conservation facilities continue to thrive, creating lasting benefits for our communities.
