The Department of Agriculture โ€“ Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) informs the public that the agency shall adopt the compressed 4-day workweek scheme.

The frontline offices shall remain operational from Monday to Friday through skeleton work force at these hours: 7๐€๐Œ to 7๐๐Œ. Meanwhile, non-frontline offices shall be open from Monday to Thursday, 7๐€๐Œ to 7๐๐Œ.

These measures support the governmentโ€™s commitment to energy conservation while ensuring uninterrupted public service.

Based on the laboratory analysis conducted by the BFAR - National Fisheries Laboratory Division, shellfish collected from the waters of North Bais Bay, Negros Oriental, are free from toxic red tide. The sample submitted tested below the Philippine Regulatory Limit for Paralytic Shellfish Poison (PSP) of 60 ยตg/100 g.

The BFAR, in collaboration with local government units (LGUs), will continue monitoring the affected areas to ensure public health standards and support the fisheries industry.

Based on the assessment conducted by BFAR, in coordination with the Local Government Unit of Bais on December 2, 2025, water quality parameters are within acceptable limits, and low levels of Vibrio spp. were detected.

The results of the heavy metal analysis of the samples submitted on November 6, 2025, also indicate that the levels are below thresholds.

Elevated plankton levels were also detected; thus, fish cage operators are advised to secure their stocks, as hypoxic conditions may develop due to blooms.

Further updates will follow once the algal bloom subsides and the PSP levels are confirmed to be below the regulatory limit.
