The Municipality of Valencia, Negros Oriental, headed by Municipal Mayor Edgar Z. Teves, Jr., warmly welcomed the officials of the National Anti-Poverty Commission Regional Basic Sector Coordinating Council (NAPC-RBSCC) of the Negros Island Region during their courtesy meeting. The visit served as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between the local government and the commission in advancing programs and initiatives that address poverty and improve the welfare of marginalized sectors in the community.
Through this meaningful engagement, both parties discussed the importance of inclusive development, community participation, and effective implementation of poverty alleviation programs. The Local Government Unit of Valencia, Negros Oriental, headed by Municipal Mayor Edgar Z. Teves, Jr., warmly welcomed the courtesy call of the Walang Gutom Program Negros Island Region staff composed of Jewel Goldamir Macayan- PDO III/RPC, Jay Ann Turan- Program Advocacy Officer III, and Grant Garry Cadalin- Program Planning Officer III. The visit highlighted the strong partnership between the Local Government Unit and the Walang Gutom Program in promoting food security and improving the lives of vulnerable families in the municipality.
The courtesy call also served as an opportunity to discuss programs and initiatives that aim to address hunger and strengthen community support systems in Negros Island Region. Through collaboration and shared commitment, the Municipality of Valencia continues to support meaningful programs that uplift the welfare of its residents and contribute to a healthier and more sustainable community.

Various Department Heads and Personnel from the Municipality of Valencia attended the Real Property Tax Compliance and Impact Study (RPTCIS) for LGUs in the Province of Negros Oriental and Siquijor of the Bureau of Local Government Finance Region NIR with the Negros Oriental Treasurers and Assessors Association, Inc. (NORTRAA) at Sierra Hotel, Dumaguete City, from May 19 to May 21, 2026. It was attended by, likewise, other stakeholders of the different LGUs under the Provinces of Negros Oriental and Siquijor.

According to the Department of Finance, the β€œReal Property Tax Compliance and Impact Study (RPTCIS) is a practical and analytical module designed to guide Local Government Units (LGUs) and assessors in evaluating the effects of property evaluation and tax policy adjustments.” The training provides participants a walkthrough on the full process of conducting a compliance and impact study - from understanding assessment revisions and tax policy levers to computing projected revenues and analyzing taxpayer burden.

With this, the Municipality of Valencia, under the empowering leadership of Mayor Edgar Z, Teves, Jr., becomes more equipped in effectively and efficiently providing services to the beloved Valencianons through the improvement in the local taxation policies accustomed to the standards set by the Department of Finance – Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF).

Teves, Jr., successfully conducted the π‘­π’π’“π’Žπ’–π’π’‚π’•π’Šπ’π’ 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 π‘―π’–π’Žπ’‚π’ 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒄𝒆 π‘«π’†π’—π’†π’π’π’‘π’Žπ’†π’π’• 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏 (𝑯𝑹𝑫𝑷) 𝒇𝒐𝒓 π‘ͺ𝒂𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒓 𝒀𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔 2026–2031 on May 14–15, 2026, at Tierra Alta Residential Resort. The activity gathered the different department and office heads of the Local Government Unit of Valencia in a collaborative effort to strengthen the municipality’s workforce and organizational development.

The two-day workshop aimed to formulate strategic plans and programs that will enhance the skills, competence, and productivity of LGU employees in the coming years. Through active participation and meaningful discussions, the department and office heads identified priority areas for training, leadership development, and capacity-building to ensure effective and efficient delivery of public service to the people of Valencia.

The conduct of the HRDP Formulation reflects the commitment of the Municipality of Valencia toward good governance and continuous institutional improvement. Mayor Edgar Z. Teves, Jr. emphasized the importance of investing in human resources as a vital foundation in achieving a responsive, resilient, and service-oriented local government for the benefit of the Valencianons.
