-is a law that protects women and their children from abuse committed by a husband, partner, or any person they have a sexual or dating relationship with.

-VAWC protects women and children from abuse in the home or intimate relationships. It recognizes not just physical violence, but also emotional, sexual, and financial abuse.

SAFE SPACES ACT (BAWAL BASTOS LAW)

Ang Republic Act 11313 o ang Safe Spaces Act ay isang batas na nilikha upang mapalawak ang sakop ng Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995 (Republic Act 7877).

Ito ay pinirmahan ni Former President Rodrigo Duterte noong ika-17 ng Abril, 2019 at naisabatas noong ika-3 ng Agosto, 2019.

Nililinaw ng Safe Spaces Act ang gender-based harassment at ang mga uri ng akto na nagaganap sa mga pampublikong lugar at ang mga karampatang parusa ukol dito.

Ito ang nais bigyan solusyon ng pagsasabatas ng Safe Spaces Act. Ang RA 11313 ay nilikha upang punan ang mga kakulangan ng Anti-Harassment Act kung saan kinikilala na rin nito na harassment ang mga akto na panggigiit sa pagitan ng mga magkaeskwela; trabahador sa kanyang amo; estudyante sa kapwa niya estudyante o estudyante sa kanyang g**o; isang trainee sa kanyang trainer.

Ito rin ay nagbibigay ng susundin na balangkas sa paglutas sa mga kaso ng harassment sa loob ng mga institusyon at nililinaw din ng batas na ito na ang sexual harassment ay nagaganap hindi lang sa loob ng eskwelahan at trabaho kung ’di ay nagaganap din ito sa mga pampublikong lugar.

Anti – Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004 or otherwise known as VAWC, is a law passed in the Philippines for the protection of women and children from violence and to address violence committed against women and children in keeping with the fundamental freedoms guarranteed under the Constitution and the Provisions of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, among others.

How is violence against women and their children committed as stated under R.A. No. 9262?

The crime of violence against women and their children is committed by means of any or a series of acts done by any person which result in or is likely to result in:

Physical or acts including bodily or physical harm,
Sexual violence or any act which is sexual in nature,
Psychological harm or to cause mental or emotional suffering, or
Economic abuse.
It shall also include threats of such acts, battery, assault, coercion, harassment or arbitrary deprivation of liberty.

Who are persons protected under R.A. No. 9262?

The following persons are protected under the law: (a) Wife, (b) Former wife; (c) A woman with whom the offender has or had sexual relations or a dating relationship; (d) A woman with whom the offender has common child with; and (e) The legitimate or illegitimate child of the woman within or without the family abode.

TANDAAN! Ang Republic Act 9262, kilala rin bilang "Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004", ay isang batas sa Pilipinas na naglalayong protektahan ang mga kababaihan at kanilang mga anak laban sa karahasan at pang-aabuso.

WCPC Rescues Minor Victim in Anti-OSAEC Operation in Cebu
Cebu City – The Philippine National Police-Women and Children Protection Center (PNP–WCPC) successfully conducted an Anti-OSAEC Rescue Operation under COPLAN VFU 2025-14 on August 29, 2025, at Sitio Sun-Ok, Brgy. Ibabao, Cordova, Cebu, which led to the rescue of an 8-year-old girl.

The operation stemmed from a proactive investigation by the Visayas Field Unit (VFU), which led to the discovery of a minor female victim allegedly exploited by her aunt, who facilitated her online sexual abuse in exchange for monetary gain.
The rescue was carried out by the WCPC-VFU led by PCOL ALADDIN E DINGAL, Chief, VFU, under the overall supervision of PBGEN MARIA SHEILA T PORTENTO, Acting Chief, WCPC, in coordination with the Cordova Municipal Police Station and DSWD Field Office VII (DSWD FO7).

The minor was immediately turned over to the Center for Women and Children, DSWD FO7, Barangay Carreta, Cebu City, for protective custody and necessary intervention.

PBGEN PORTENTO emphasized that the successful operation underscores the PNP–WCPC’s unwavering commitment to protect children from online sexual abuse and exploitation, ensuring that offenders are held accountable through proactive and victim-centered efforts. She further noted that penalties for OSAEC and CSAEM offenses may include life imprisonment and fines of up to ₱5 million, depending on the gravity of the crime.

The WCPC maintains a 24/7 official page where the public can report incidents of online sexual abuse and exploitation of children. Individuals with information that may aid in the rescue of victims or the investigation of offenders are urged to immediately contact the PNP Women and Children Protection.
