The Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Mamat-ing Norte continues to invest in learning opportunities that strengthen leadership, promote youth welfare, and enhance community preparedness.
From May 13β14, 2026, the SK Chairperson, Jay-ann Acosta Tovera participated in the Local Youth Development Council (LYDC) Budgeting and Planning Workshop for CY 2027β2029 held in Naguilian, La Union, spearheaded by the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) headed by Ms. Jino C. BanaΓ±a. The activity focused on developing strategic plans and identifying priority programs that will address the needs, concerns, and aspirations of young Naguilianons from various sectors, ensuring that the voices of the youth are represented in the municipality's development plans for the coming years.
On May 15, 2026, the SK Council attended the Fire Safety Drill and Basic Life Support Training conducted at Barangay Mamat-ing Norte, Naguilian, La Union, spearheaded by the Barangay Council in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). The activity equipped participants with essential life-saving skills and proper emergency response procedures during fire and medical emergencies.
On May 19, 2026, the SK Chairperson, together with SK Member Christel R. Reyes, participated in the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Seminar under the campaign : βMay Karapatan ang Kabataan sa Kanilang Kinabukasan,β held at the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) Region I, City of San Fernando, La Union. The seminar strengthened awareness of youth rights, responsibilities, and the important role of young people in nation-building while promoting the protection and empowerment of Filipino youth.
Furthermore, from May 28β30, 2026, the SK Chairperson participated in the Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CBDRRM) Training conducted by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) at Ariana Hotel, Bauang, La Union. Through this training, participants enhanced their knowledge and skills in the four thematic areas of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM): Prevention and Mitigation, Preparedness, Response and Early Recovery, and Rehabilitation and Recovery. The activity provided practical strategies and approaches that can be applied in building a safer, more resilient, and disaster-ready community.
These seminars, trainings, and workshops reflect the commitment of the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Mamat-ing Norte to continuous learning and capacity-building. More importantly, the knowledge, skills, and best practices gained from these activities will be shared with the community through information dissemination, trainings, drills, and participation in emergency preparedness and response exercises.
Every training attended and every lesson learned is an investment in better service, stronger leadership, and a more resilient Barangay Mamat-ing Norte.
