BRIEF HISTORY OF DARAMUANGAN
Barangay Daramuangan was formerly composed of one barangay namely Bancagan. As years past, said Barangay Bancagan increase in number in terms of its population that it needs to be divided and separated in two barangay for a better and more effective governance. Barangay Bancagan split in two barrios and became independent from each other by which the other created barangay was born namely Barangay Daramuangan. The barangay from the north was known as Barangay Bancagan from the local ilocano dialect word “Bancag” which means unirrigated lands. The other separated barangay which is nearest to the entrance or exit also from the local ilocano dialect word “RUANGAN” that it became Barangay Daramuangan. Now Barangay Daramuangan is composed of majority Ilocano residents increasing in number. Major source of income is seasonal farming for the fields for root crops like rice and vegetables depended on rain. Small business income generating establishments could also be found in said barangay. Daramuangan is striving to reach its goals of sufficiency and better living status of its residents in the future.
