SARANGGOLA NG KALAYAAN 2022: Kite Design and Flying and Competition

Mechanics:
1. This competition is open exclusively to NAGKARLANGINS.
2. Each participant is allowed to have 1 Kite Entry. 6 more slots available for registration as of 03 June 2022.
3. Kites to be used in the competition must be homemade. Kites can be made of paper, plastic, or cloth or a combination of these materials. Kite frames can be made of wood or bamboo. Kite design must adhere to the Kalayaan 2022 theme, “KALAYAAN 2022: PAGSUONG SA HAMON NG PANIBAGONG BUKAS”.
4. Commercially manufactured Kites are not eligible for competition.
5. All Kites must comply safety inspections. Only registered participants will be allowed to fly during competition time. Open fun flying will be done after the competition period.
6. Interested participants can register at Nagcarlan Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, look for Ms. Hazel Osuna) and at NHCP Museo ng Libingan sa Ilalim ng Lupa ng Nagcarlan Curator’s Office (may register at the stationed security guards anytime). Kindly present one (1) valid ID.
7. The Kites shall be given three chances to take-off (alagwa). Kites that will fail to take-off will be disqualified. A kite that gets entangled may be flown again with clearance from the judges.
8. Competition is on June 11, 2022, Saturday at Landing Point, Brgy. San Francisco, Nagcarlan, Laguna. Competition will start at 2 PM. Date & time may change due to weather or wind condition.
9. The judges may disqualify participants who will not observe the rules and regulations set by the organizers. Their decision is final and unappealable.
10. Last call for registration will be on 10 June 2022, Friday until 5:00 PM.
11. Prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes. Others special prizes will be announced.
CRITERIA FOR JUDGING:
Ground Judging:
Design (adherence to the theme, originality, and creativity) 20%
Materials (workmanship, resourcefulness, and kite quality) 20%
On-air Judging:
Flight Performance (Take-off and landing) 20%
Aerial Manuever (power movement, kite appearance while flying, and kite must stay on air for at least one minute) 40%
