NAGA ZERO HUNGER LAB
Key stakeholders of the city met face-to-face for the first time this afternoon, taking a step closer towards the establishment of the Naga City Zero Hunger Lab.
Thanks to guidance from the Asian School of Governance, the city is establishing the Lab, "which will invite students and faculty from local and national universities to help build a future where every child in Naga City has access to safe, nutritious, and affordable food."
"The Zero Hunger Research Fellowship Program is designed as an applied learning and policy innovation platform that places researchers sideโbyโside with government offices, community partners, health workers, schools, and food producers. Our goal is simple but ambitious: generate evidence, insights, and solutions that support Naga Cityโs commitment to eliminate childhood hunger and malnutrition within the decade."
Convened by the City Planning and Development Office, the meeting brought together top officials of the Universidad de Sta. Isabel, BISCAST, CBSUA and the Bicol Medical Center and their counterparts from the City Population and Nutrition Office, the City Agriculture Office and Education, Sports and Scholarship Office to review the draft Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on the three-year town-and-gown partnership.
They also reviewed the eight-point research agenda and identified the institutions best suited to handle each item.
The MOA is expected to be signed later in the month, after a final review by the leaders of the HEIs involved.
