On August 20, the Reboot Philippines – JETxNaga Team, representing the Environmental Sector for Naga City Council for Youth Development, attended Mother Earth Foundation’s (MEF) presentation of 'Zero Waste and Good Governance: a People-Centered Waste System' to Mayor Leni Robredo.

MEF highlighted how Zero Waste, rooted in proper implementation of RA 9003 and circular economy principles, helps communities reduce waste generation and achieve higher waste diversion rates by improving resource management, redesigning systems, and strengthening local participation. They also shared success stories from Barangay Potrero in Malabon City, the City of San Fernando in Pampanga, the island province of Siquijor, as well as Zero Waste communities in India, Indonesia, and Japan, showing that practical and community‑based solutions can work at different scales.

Present during the meeting were MEF pillars Sonia Mendoza, Sonia Roco, and Froilan Grate, together with Kyle Perez from Reboot Philippines.

We express our gratitude to MEF for visiting and introducing as a strategic pathway for strengthening our local sustainability efforts. This initiative reflects the principles of a Just Transition—ensuring that environmental shifts are inclusive, community‑centered, and supportive of people’s livelihoods.

Zero Waste and environmental management are also core components of our Local Youth Development Plan (LYDP). These commitments align with the LGU’s 2028 Finish Lines and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, guiding the youth sector in advancing practical, community‑based solutions that contribute to Naga’s long‑term resilience.

𝗡𝗖𝗖𝗬𝗗 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗦 𝗜𝗧𝗦 𝗕𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗡𝗜 𝗙𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗢𝗪𝗦! 🇵🇭🌱

The Naga City Council for Youth Development (NCCYD) proudly congratulates its members, 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗮 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗮 (Sports Sector Representative), and 𝗦𝗮𝗺 𝗟𝗶𝗺 (Education Sector Alternate Representative), for successfully completing the BAGANI: Rising Leaders' Development Program (RLDP) of the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP)!

Both Allysa and Sam have previously served as Naga City Youth Officials, bringing their experience in public service and urban governance into their journey as emerging leaders. Allysa served as 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿 in 2024, while Sam served as 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 for 2025.

Rooted in the Mindanao indigenous concept of the 𝗕𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶, traditionally understood as a warrior and defender of the community, the program embraces a different kind of warrior for our time: one who fights for integrity, builds communities, upholds good governance, and serves with purpose.

As BAGANI Fellows, Allysa and Sam are now part of a community of young Filipinos answering the call to become warriors of integrity, guardians of good governance, and leaders committed to peace, inclusion, and sustainable development.

Their achievement is a testament to the capacity of Naga’s youth to lead, serve, and contribute beyond our city.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗺! May you continue to carry the spirit of the Bagani into your work, your communities, and your service to the nation. 🇵🇭
