Immersed in Wisdom, Rooted in Respect
One of the most meaningful parts of the Training of Trainers on Gender Analysis and Mainstreaming was our community immersion with the Daraghuyan Tribe โ one of the 7 Indigenous Peoples in Bukidnon, located in Daraghuyan Tribal Village, Dalwangan, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
Even if the road going there meant crossing two rivers, the participants didnโt hesitate. With excitement and open hearts, they made the journey to meet the community, learn their ways, and listen to their stories.
With the help of the Provincial Government of Bukidnon โ through Ms. Cecille Egnar of BENRO and her team, and Ms. Cecil Isubal, Alineaโs Provincial Project Coordinator โ the Daraghuyan community was identified for this engagement as they are one of the beneficiaries of the solar power generating project of the Provincial Government of Bukidnon, an initiative that not only brings light to their homes but also shines a light on the importance of inclusive, culturally grounded development.
Participants had the chance to do actual gender analysis with the women, men, youth, elderly, and other sectors in the community. What began as fieldwork became a journey of cultural appreciation and gender-inclusive learning โgaining insights into the communityโs resilience, values, and harmony with nature.
It was a powerful reminder that learning doesnโt just happen in classrooms. Sometimes, itโs in the rivers we cross, the stories we hear, and the hands we hold. ๐
