ππππ: DOST-National Capital Region (DOST-NCR) continued its engagement with communities on disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) on the second day of its Handa Pilipinas Caravan 2.0 in the Taguig Probinsyudad.
On the last day of the caravan, participants from various barangays and offices of the City Government took part in a series of science-based discussions aimed at strengthening the communityβs disaster prevention and preparedness.
The morning session featured innovative ready-to-eat food products developed by the DOST-FNRI, presenting practical food solutions that are designed to support emergency response and ensure adequate nutrition during disasters.
In the afternoon session, experts from the DOST-PHIVOLCS discussed earthquake preparedness and geologic hazards, including risk scenarios associated with the anticipated βBig Oneβ in Metro Manila, while emphasizing essential measures for preparedness, mitigation, and response.
Both sessions underscored the importance of science-driven preparedness, strong inter-agency collaboration, and community resilience in building a safer and more disaster-ready Taguig Probinsyudad.
Residents from neighboring communities, youth organizations, and representatives from private institutions also explored the technology exhibits, where they learned more about the locally-developed innovations on DRRM from DOST experts who were on-site.
The two day activity provided participants and guests with deeper knowledge and insights into technological solutions for disaster prevention, mitigation, and preparedness, further strengthening public awareness and appreciation of science-based approaches to resilience.
