Reinforcing the government's commitment to inclusive development, the Local Government Unit of Mondragon, in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Northern Samar and the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), successfully conducted the Turn-Over Ceremony of a One-Storey, Two-Classroom School Building in Barangay San Antonio.
Funded under the Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP), the project stands as a tangible manifestation of the government's Whole-of-Nation Approach, which seeks to address the root causes of insurgency through responsive governance, and community empowerment. More than a physical structure, the new school building symbolizes the collective efforts of national government agencies, local government units, security forces, and community stakeholders in advancing peace and development in geographically challenged communities.
The ceremony commenced with a blessing officiated by Rev. Fr. Joachem Paz, followed by a ribbon-cutting activity and the formal turn-over program attended by VM Myla Marquita, SB Members Gil Unay, Arthur Mananguite, and Gil Unay, MLGOO Christine Dela Rosa, representatives from the Department of Education, the Philippine National Police, the 803rd Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 8, the 43rd Infantry Battalion, students, and other stakeholders.
In his Turn-Over Message, Municipal Mayor Mario M. Madera emphasized the Local Government's unwavering commitment to bringing government services closer to the people and ensuring that every community feels heard, valued, and prioritized.
Representing DILG Northern Samar Provincial Director Geraldine C. Maquelabit, DILG Northern Samar OIC Cluster Head Eduardo Diaz delivered the Inauguration Message, recognizing the collective efforts of partner agencies and stakeholders in making the project a reality. He underscored the significance of the Whole-of-Nation Approach, wherein all sectors of society work together toward a common goal of peace, development, and progress.
The symbolic turn-over of the facility and signing of documents formally transferred the school building to the Department of Education, represented by Mrs. Rhea D. Uy, School Principal, and Dr. Zoraida S. Bulosan, District In-Charge, who expressed their heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the learners, parents, and teaching personnel for the much-needed educational facility.
As a flagship initiative under the Support to Barangay Development Program, the school building serves as a testament to the shared vision of building stronger, more resilient communities through education, unity, and sustainable development. More importantly, it reflects the enduring belief that genuine progress and lasting peace can be achieved when government institutions and communities work together as one nation.
