� Ang sapat na bilang ng correctional officers ay mahalaga upang
matiyak ang kaligtasan, kaayusan, at makataong pagtrato sa mga PDL.
Kapag kulang ang mga kawani, mas nagiging mahirap ang pagbibigay ng sapat na pangangasiwa, seguridad, at serbisyong kailangan ng mga nakapiit.
Sa pamamagitan ng National Preventive Mechanism (NPM),
mapapalakas ang pagsusuri at pagtukoy sa mga hamon sa loob ng mga kulungan upang maisulong ang mga repormang magpapabuti sa kalagayan ng mga PDL at maging ng mga correctional officers at iba pang kawani na araw-araw na nagsisilbi sa loob ng mga pasilidad.

Join the CHR and PhilHealth Philippine Health Insurance Corporation CSO Forum on 23 June 2026, 9:00 AM–1:00 PM at JLMCG Building, Conference Room A, as we discuss “Health as a Human Right: Bridging the Healthcare Divide.”
The forum aims to foster meaningful dialogue among civil society organizations, government stakeholders, and the public on advancing equitable, accessible, and rights-based healthcare for all Filipinos. It also serves as a platform to exchange insights and strengthen collaboration in addressing gaps in healthcare delivery and access.
A key highlight of the forum is the participation of PhilHealth President Edwin M. Mercado, who will serve as a resource speaker and share insights on PhilHealth's role in strengthening healthcare access and advancing Universal Health Care in the country. 🫁 Ang pagsisikip sa mga kulungan ay hindi lamang usapin ng espasyo, ito rin ay usapin ng kalusugan.
Kapag masikip at kulang ang bentilasyon sa loob ng kulungan, mas madaling kumalat ang mga sakit tulad ng tuberculosis.
Ang paggalang sa dignidad ng tao ay hindi nagtatapos sa likod ng rehas. Suportahan ang pagtatatag ng National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) para sa mas ligtas at makataong mga lugar ng detensyon.

Mahigit kalahati ng mga nakakulong sa Pilipinas ay hindi pa nahahatulan
ng korte.
Ang mataas na bilang ng mga untried prisoners ay nagpapakita ng

Ayon sa datos ng BuCor, 1,110 PDL ang pumanaw noong 2024.
Bagama't may iba't ibang dahilan ng pagkamatay sa loob ng mga pasilidad, mahalagang matiyak na ang bawat nakapiit ay tumatanggap ng sapat na serbisyong pangkalusugan, makataong na kondisyon ng pamumuhay, at proteksiyon laban sa anumang uri ng pang-aabuso o kapabayaan.
Makakatulong ang National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) sa pagtukoy ng mga suliranin sa loob ng mga pasilidad at sa pagsusulong ng mga repormang magpapabuti sa kapakanan at dignidad ng mga nakapiit.
