YOUTH IN ACTION | Building Leaders, Creating Change in Medellin
The Convergence Team Medellin, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 7 through the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), successfully conducted the Trainersβ Training on the Youth Development Session (YDS) Modules on August 21β22, 2026, at The Tree House Grill, Medellin, Cebu.
The two-day training gathered 32 student leaders from different schools in Medellin, providing them with a platform to connect with fellow youth leaders, exchange experiences, and develop their knowledge and skills in youth development.
The participants were trained to facilitate meaningful Youth Development Sessions (YDS) in their schools, communities, and among youth beneficiaries of the Pantawid program. Through interactive discussions and activities, they learned how to promote Positive Youth Development (PYD), strengthen leadership, build healthy relationships, make responsible choices, and encourage their peers to pursue positive goals.
This initiative also serves as a response to the challenges faced by young people today. By equipping youth leaders with the confidence and skills to become peer facilitators, we create a network of young people who can help promote safe spaces, positive choices, and meaningful opportunities for their fellow youth.
More than completing a two-day training, these 32 student leaders are now part of a growing movement of young leaders in Medellinβready to share what they have learned, influence their peers, and become catalysts for positive change.
The Convergence Team Medellin extends its sincere appreciation to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Medellin headed by Hon. Edwin L. Salimbangon, through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) Office, headed by Ma'am Janice B. Sumalinog for its valuable support and assistance, including the provision of funding that helped make this youth development initiative possible. Your continued commitment to empowering young people is an investment in the future of the community.
Our gratitude also goes to everyone who contributed to the success of the training, especially our facilitators, partners, schools, and student leaders who willingly shared their time, energy, and commitment.
When young people are empowered, communities become stronger. When youth lead, positive change begins.
