Mayorga, Leyte – September 04, 2026 – Personnel of Mayorga Fire Station, under the leadership of SFO4 Melvin M Raagas, OIC–Municipal Fire Marshal, conducted a storytelling activity at Sta. Cruz Elementary School, featuring the book Fire Dogs Series 1: Playtime with Coco, which shared an important moral lesson on fire prevention and safety.

The story reminded everyone never to leave cooking unattended and emphasized the importance of immediately calling 911 or the Firefighters in case of fire.

The activity was followed by a lecture on the different parts of a fire extinguisher and the proper way to use it through the TPASS method: Twist the pin, Pull the pin, Aim the nozzle at the base of the fire, Squeeze the handle, and Sweep from side to side.

This activity highlights the commitment of Mayorga Fire Station to promoting fire safety awareness and equipping the community with essential knowledge and skills to prevent and respond to fire emergencies.

Mayorga, Leyte – September 04, 2026 – The Mayorga Fire Station, under the leadership of SFO4 Melvin M Raagas, OIC–Municipal Fire Marshal, conducted a Refresher Course on BFP-related topics, with emphasis on the Introduction to Fire Arson Investigation, aimed at enhancing the knowledge, awareness, and investigative capabilities of personnel in handling fire incidents.

The refresher course provided an opportunity for personnel to revisit fundamental concepts and procedures in fire arson investigation, including the importance of determining the origin and cause of a fire, proper observation and documentation of the fire scene, preservation of relevant evidence, and the significance of systematic investigation in establishing the circumstances surrounding a fire incident.

Mayorga Fire Station to continuous learning and professional development, ensuring that personnel remain equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively perform their duties in accordance with the mandates and responsibilities of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

Mayorga, Leyte – September 03, 2026 – The Mayorga Fire Station, under the leadership of SFO4 Melvin M Raagas, OIC–Municipal Fire Marshal, conducted the First Physical Fitness Test (PFT) for the 21 Burauen Community College (BCC) Criminology Interns as part of their internship program.

The activity was conducted to assess the interns’ current level of physical fitness, strength, endurance, agility, and overall physical readiness. Through a series of prescribed physical fitness activities, the interns were given the opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities, discipline, determination, and commitment to maintaining a healthy and physically active lifestyle.

Mayorga Fire Station remains committed to providing meaningful and well-rounded internship experiences that contribute to the development of competent, disciplined, and physically prepared future public safety professionals.

REFRESHER COURSE ON FIREFIGHTING TECHNIQUES AND PROPER LADDER HANDLING

Mayorga, Leyte – September 01, 2026 – The Mayorga Fire Station, under the leadership of SFO4 Melvin M Raagas, OIC–Municipal Fire Marshal, conducted a weekly refresher course on firefighting techniques, with emphasis on the proper handling, carrying, positioning, raising, and utilization of ladders during firefighting and rescue operations.

The activity was conducted to reinforce the knowledge and practical skills of personnel in the proper and safe use of ladders, enhance operational proficiency, and maintain a high level of preparedness for emergency response. The refresher course also emphasized adherence to established firefighting procedures, personnel safety, teamwork, and effective coordination to ensure safe, efficient, and organized operations during actual fire incidents and other emergency situations. Through continuous training and skills enhancement, the station remains committed to maintaining the operational readiness and competence of its personnel in the delivery of effective fire protection and emergency response services to the community.
