The City Government of Mati has officially declared the city under a State of Calamity through the adoption of CDRRMC Resolution No. 06-2025 during the 8th City Council session.

The declaration was endorsed by Mayor Joel Mayo Z. Almario, who also serves as the Chairperson and Presiding Officer of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC). The CDRRMC convened an emergency meeting on October 13, 2025, following the 7.6 and 6.9 magnitude earthquakes that struck the province on October 10, 2025, resulting in widespread damage and displacements across the city.

Based on the council’s situational report, a total of 28,048 individuals from 26 barangays were affected. The earthquakes caused damage to infrastructure, disruption of essential services, and temporary evacuation of families in various areas. | CIO
