The City Government of Mati celebrated its monthly mass on May 7, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall with Rev. Fr. Anthony Pobar, DCM, Parochial Vicar of San Nicolas de Tolentino Cathedral as the mass presider.

The solemn occasion was attended by officials and employees of the city government, including Councilor Jerome C. Dayanghirang and Mr. Juvy L. Mabini, J.D. – Secretary of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

The celebration served as a moment of spiritual reflection and renewal, encouraging city officials and employees to be joyful and remain steadfast in faith, integrity, and service in the performance of their duties.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Mati conducted a public hearing on April 16, 2026, to discuss proposed minor amendments to provisions under City Ordinance No. 578-2023, also known as the “Economic Enterprise Code of the City of Mati.”
The hearing was led by the Committee on Food, Agriculture, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, chaired by City Councilor Edgar T. Valera, and held at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall.
Key city officials and stakeholders were present, including:

• City Vice Mayor Lorenzo Leon G. Rabat
• City Administrator Alan E. Andrada
• City Agriculturist Romel M. Avance
• Leodyl Ajos from the Office of the City Mayor
• Yza Marundan, Officer-in-Charge of the Mati Fishport
• Engr. Zenaida M. Loon from the City Economic Enterprise Office
• Sangguniang Panlungsod Secretary Juvy L. Mabini, J.D.
• Representatives from the legislative department
• Guests from the Maritime Police and the Philippine Coast Guard

The discussion centered on the insertion/deletion of certain provisions in the Prohibited Acts and its corresponding penalties to reinforce the City Ordinance 578-2023 or the Fishport Operation and Management Ordinance.

The public hearing served as a platform for collaboration between policymakers and implementers, allowing concerns and recommendations to be raised before the amendments are finalized and adopted by the city council.

In line with the preparations for the upcoming purok election on April 26, 2026, the Secretary of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of the City of Mati continues to conduct visits to various barangays to address matters concerning the election.

Today, the Secretary met with key officials from four (4) barangays, namely: Barangay Matiao, Dahican, Don Martin Marundan and Don Enrique Lopez to discuss important issues and concerns to ensure the barangay’s readiness for the forthcoming election.

On April 16, 2026, the Sangguniang Panlungsod of the City of Mati celebrated its traditional monthly mass at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall with Rev. Fr. Bryan Bermejo, DCM as the mass presider.

Attended by no less than the city’s 1st lady, Mrs. Nancy D. Almario, the solemn occasion was sponsored by the different offices of the city government, namely; the Office of the City Accounting, the City Traffic Management Office, the Office of the Building Official, the Mati Centennial Transport Terminal Complex and the office of the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President, Hon. Thomas III A. Sebellino.

Also notably present were City Councilors Hon. Jerome C. Dayanghirang and Hon. Edgar T. Valera, Sangguniang Panlungsod Secretary Juvy L. Mabini along with the officials and staff of the different departments of the local government.

During its 15th Regular Session on April 14, 2026, the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Mati approved Resolution No. 85-2026, requesting City Mayor Joel Mayo Z. Almario to facilitate the provision of one (1) police vehicle for the Philippine National Police – Mati City Police Station (PNP-MATI).

The resolution, sponsored by Councilor Francisco G. Bardon, Jr. and moved by Councilor Edgar T. Valera, highlights the importance of strengthening law enforcement capabilities in the city.

According to the Council, providing an additional police vehicle will significantly enhance the operational capability, responsiveness, and overall effectiveness of the police force in ensuring the safety and security of Mati City residents.

On April 8, 2026, the 26 Punong Barangays of the City of Mati headed by LNB President Daniel Y. Macaubos convened at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall for the Liga ng mga Barangay Monthly Meeting (Ugnayan). The meeting focused on the newly approved City Ordinance No. 666, series of 2026, which amends provisions of City Ordinance No. 425, series of 2020, also known as the Strong Purok Organization for Good Governance Ordinance of 2020.

The session was also attended by key city officials. Among the guests were City Mayor Joel Mayo Z. Almario, City Vice Mayor Lorenzo Leon G. Rabat, and members of the 8th City Council, including Councilors Raul M. Antopuesto, Edgar T. Valera, Xenna Princess D. Campos, and Francisco G. Bardon Jr., as well as IPMR Antonieto V. Arles. Also present was Department of the Interior and Local Government City Local Government Operations Officer (CLGOO) Atty. Louie B. Limbaro.

The 8th City Council of Mati welcomed Atty. Louie B. Limbaro, newly installed City Local Government Operations Officer (CLGOO) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), during its 12th regular session on March 24, 2026, held at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall.

Atty. Limbaro was invited as a guest of the 8th City Council, where he presented his office’s priority plans and programs under his leadership. His presentation outlined key initiatives aimed at strengthening local governance and enhancing coordination between the DILG and the city government.

In his remarks, Limbaro expressed appreciation to the members of the City Council for the warm reception extended to him. He also conveyed his commitment to working closely with local officials in advancing programs and services for the benefit of Matinians.

The City Council looks forward to continued partnership with the DILG in promoting effective and responsive public service for all Matinians.
