In response to the recent strong earthquakes, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), together with its partner agencies, City Health Office, Mati CPS, Mati 66th IB Philippine Army, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and dedicated Day Care Workers. , conducted a Psychological First Aid (PFA) activity for day care students to provide psychosocial support and assess any signs of psychological distress that may have resulted from the disaster.
As a pilot implementation, the activity served as an opportunity to evaluate and improve intervention strategies to ensure more effective psychosocial support services for children in other day care centers in the future.
One of the highlights of the activity was the earthquake drill, where the children actively participated and learned basic safety measures during emergencies. The team also introduced uniformed personnel to the children, helping them understand that police officers, soldiers, disaster responders, health workers, and other uniformed personnel are trusted helpers who provide protection, assistance, and support during times of need.
Together, we continue to build resilient, informed, and emotionally supported communitiesโone child at a time. ๐
