11 September 2026. The Office of the City Prosecutor–Mati City brought together its prosecutors and staff for a meaningful and enjoyable Team Building Activity at Cora Beach House, Brgy. Lawigan, City of Mati, Davao Oriental.

Through fun and engaging activities facilitated by Ms. Cherry Ann M. Verana- Quibo, the team strengthened camaraderie, communication, trust, and cooperation while creating meaningful memories beyond the workplace.

More than just games, the activity reminded us that we are stronger when we connect, better when we collaborate, and capable of conquering challenges when we stand together as one team.

On 01 September 2026, OIC City Prosecutor Anna Khristine C. Mongaya-Magno served as Guest Speaker during the 32nd National Crime Prevention Week (NCPW) Kickoff Ceremony held at the Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office (DOPPO) Compound, Brgy. Dahican, City of Mati, Davao Oriental.

With the theme, β€œStrengthening Civilian Oversight and Collective Action for Safer Communities,” the activity highlighted the importance of inter-agency cooperation, community participation, and collective efforts in promoting crime prevention, peace, and public safety.

The successful conduct of the kickoff ceremony formally launched the week-long celebration of the 32nd NCPW, strengthening the commitment of stakeholders toward building safer, peaceful, and more secure communities.

Steadfast to it’s duty in providing effective, efficient and equitable administration of justice, the Office of the City Prosecutor-Mati City is currently prosecuting cases involving children subjected to online sexual abuse and exploitation. The prosecution of these cases is in partnership with the Office of Provincial Prosecutor of Davao Oriental under the guidance and leadership of the Office of the Regional Prosecutor.

Acting on a cyber-tip and verified digital intelligence regarding Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children/Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (OSAEC/CSAEM), the PNP- Mindanao Field Unit (WCPC-MFU), immediately launched an investigation to identify the location and identify of the victims. Sparing no moment of delay, separate operations were conducted that led to the arrest of five (5) online sexual predators, one of which is a child, on December 5, 2025 and March 13, 2026 at Barangays Central, Don Enrique Lopez and Lawigan, all in this City. As a result, 12 children were rescued.

These operations were successfully conducted through the joint efforts of personnel from

PNP-Mati City Police Station,
Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit Region XI,
Women and Children Protection Desk – Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office,
City Social Welfare and Development Office of Mati City,
Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office XI,
Regional Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking Region XI,
Regional Anti-Cybercrime Enforcement Team Task Force XI, and
Provincial Director of the Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office (PD, DOPPO).

The arrested five (5) suspects were immediately brought to the Office of the City Prosecutor (OCP), Mati City for inquest proceedings and are currently detained, facing their days in court.

True to its mission of safeguarding children and upholding their rights, the Office of the City Prosecutor of Mati actively supported the Child-Safe Tourism Seminar held at the Old Accounting Office, City Hall, City of Mati on July 21-22, 2024.

Representing the Office, Assistant City Prosecutor Dulce Amor P. Mahumoc-Uyan served as the resource speaker on the topic, "π™π™π™š π™‹π™§π™€π™©π™šπ™˜π™©π™žπ™€π™£ 𝙀𝙛 π˜Ύπ™π™žπ™‘π™™π™§π™šπ™£ π˜Όπ™œπ™–π™žπ™£π™¨π™© π™Žπ™šπ™­π™ͺ𝙖𝙑 π˜Όπ™—π™ͺπ™¨π™š 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙀𝙭π™₯π™‘π™€π™žπ™©π™–π™©π™žπ™€π™£ π™žπ™£ π™π™§π™–π™«π™šπ™‘ 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙏𝙀π™ͺπ™§π™žπ™¨π™’." Her discussion highlighted child protection laws, the role of tourism stakeholders in identifying and preventing these crimes, and the importantance of reporting these incidents in order to ensure that the City of Mati remains safe for every child.

Attended by resorts and accommodation owners, tour operators, restobar employees, City Hall personnel, and PNP-MCPS, the seminar was organized by the Department of Tourism Region XI (DOT XI) in partnership with the City Tourism Office.
