LOOK | Under the leadership of 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗔. 𝗔𝗴𝗯𝗼𝗻, and through the Matanao Tourism Office, headed by 𝗠𝘀. 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗖. 𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗱𝗼, 16 young film enthusiasts and aspiring filmmakers from Matanao successfully completed the Two-Day Film Making Training held on September 26–27, 2026, at the Matanao Tourism Office Conference Room.

The two-day training provided participants with essential knowledge and hands-on learning in photography, scriptwriting, storytelling, cinematography, and video production. The sessions were facilitated by 𝗠𝗿. 𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗩𝗶𝗻𝘇 𝗦. 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗱, an independent filmmaker and visual artist from Kidapawan City, who shared his knowledge, experience, and creative insights to help participants develop their skills in visual storytelling.

More than learning through lectures, participants were given the opportunity to experience filmmaking firsthand through practical activities and exercises. They applied the concepts they learned in photography, explored storytelling and script development, and gained a closer look at the creative and technical processes involved in producing a film.

Beyond technical skills, the training emphasized the power of filmmaking as a tool for storytelling, cultural promotion, and tourism development. Participants were encouraged to explore creative ways of capturing Matanao’s destinations, culture, traditions, and the stories of its people through film.

Meanwhile, Ms. Sabornido, encouraged the young filmmakers to use their newfound skills to tell authentic stories about Matanao and showcase the municipality through their own creative perspectives.

This training marks the first phase of the LGU and Tourism Office’s long-term plan to promote Matanao’s culture and bring its stories to the screen. With two days of learning and one shared passion, these young filmmakers are now equipped to tell and showcase the stories of Matanao through film.

𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗖 𝗖𝗥𝗢𝗪𝗗 𝗙𝗨𝗘𝗟𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗕𝗔𝗦𝗞𝗘𝗧𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗘𝗫𝗛𝗜𝗕𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗜𝗡 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗢

The Matanao Super Gymnasium erupted with energy on September 25, 2026, as an electrifying crowd filled the venue, cheering, shouting, and rallying behind their favorite teams during two action-packed basketball exhibition games held as part of the 63rd Parochial Fiesta of St. Michael Parish of Matanao.

The first game 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗠𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘀 𝗫 𝗧𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘂 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗖𝗷𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼 in a fast-paced showdown that kept spectators on their feet. Both teams showcased intensity, teamwork, and determination, turning the court into a fierce battleground while the roaring crowd added even more excitement to the matchup.

The action continued in the second exhibition game as 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗢𝗳𝗳-𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘀, bringing together Matanao’s rising basketball talents and standout players from the Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) Secondary Basketball Team. The Agbon Bulls fought hard against the visiting squad, while Team Off-Campus was guided by Palarong Pambansa-winning coach Sir 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐬 “𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐬” 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐨.

More than just a showcase of basketball skills, the exhibition games became a celebration of sportsmanship, local talent, and community spirit. With every fast break, defensive stop, and clutch play met by thunderous cheers from the stands, the Matanao Super Gymnasium proved once again that basketball remains one of the games that brings the community together.
