BALIKAN TA KON PANU NA ESTABLISHED AN BUNTOD REEF MARINE SANCTUARY SA CIUDAD SAN MASBATE.

Buntod Reef has a total reef area approximately 250 hectares with a 1 hectare sand bar, two (2) hectares mangrove and foreshore.

Buntod Reef Marine Sanctuary is a shoal (10m deep) which is proximate to both deep water and river mouth (2.71 km.). Slope is gradual up to 30ft. It is located at the midst of the sea waters of barangay Nursery and Tugbo, Masbate City.

It is bounded by Masbate Pass at the east, Barangay Nursery on the north, Buntod Sandbar and Barangay Tugbo on the West and the Municipality Mobo, Masbate on the north.

San March 6, 2002 Nag hatag po san certification an DENR NAMRIA san Technical Description of the Municipal Waters of Masbate City. An certification is signed by the Director san Coast and Geodetic Survey Department na si Director Commendore RENATO B. FEIR that time.

Kaya na established an aton Buntod Reef Marine Sanctuary san October 24, 2002-Ordinance No. 021-02 Establishing a Marine Sanctuary within Municipal Water of Masbate.

An BUNTOD REEF po is territorial jurisdiction san Masbate City.

May mga rason nano kay gin established an BUNTOD;
1. To manage the coastal and fishery resources of the City of Masbate in a manner consistent with the principle of Coastal Resources Management.
2. To protect and manage the municipal waters its coastal and fisheries resources for the enjoyment and benefits of the municipal fishers in perpetuity.
3. To enhance people and community participation in the management of the coastal and fishery resources of the cityโ€™s municipal waters through community-based organization and;
4. To maintain sustainable fishing activity in line with the national program of Food Security.

Nag ka ogwa san developmental project an DENR and DA BFAR san Integrated Coastal Resources Management Project or ICRMP na kon diin ka intra an Masbate City partners an EDF and ADB.

Priority sani na project an protection and conservation san aton mga coastal resources, kag pag pa kusog san mga fisherfolk organization, kag gina tagaan san mga livelihood project kon diin sinda mismo an maga manage.

An members san SAMAPUSI halos tanan po sinda ay Mangingisda na partner san LGU Masbate City para eh manage an Buntod Reef Marine Sanctuary.

Ogwa san livelihood program na gin hatag an DENR, BFAR and LGU City of Masbate entitled REEF DISCOVERY or ecotourism livelihood.

Kaya sani an Samahan ng Mangingisda ng Puro Sinalikway or SAMAPUSI amo ini siya an only accredited eco-tourism service provider san aton Buntod Reef na approved san City Marine Sanctuary Network and Fishery Management Board na kon diin an mga members are stakeholders, deputized enforcers, kag ka upod sa paga planning and decision making.

August 6, 2015 nag ka ogwa po san Memorandum of Agreement kon diin an DENR Region V, City Government of Masbate City and SAMAPUSI Inc na gin state sa agreement kon nano an inda mga roles and functions.

Kon diin an SAMAPSUI INC. sinda mismo while naga protect, naga bantay may pag kaka kitaan man sinda. Tanan po na gina bayad naton mapapa kadto po sainda kay amo po ina an inda pangabuhay.

May scheme po an aton SAMAPUSI kon panu po ninda gina barahin an inda gina kita na hali sa bayad san paga rent naton san mga motor boat, chairs and table. Ini na best practices ninda gina kilala kag damu na sainda naga bench marking na iba iba na mga peoples organization kag LGU's.

Ogwa man po kita san ordinance na na-approved san July 10, 2012 Ordinance No. 143-12 โ€œRegulating the Activities in Buntod Reef Marine Sanctuaryโ€ na kon diin sani na ordinance naka butang an mga DO and Donts an pwdi lang himuon sa aton BUNTOD REEF.

San July 21, 2016 Ordinance NO. 184-16 โ€œRegulating the activities in Buntod Reef Marine Sanctuary and Sandbar as Amendedโ€ na kon diin didi na create na san Buntod Reef Marine Sanctuary and Sandbar Management Board. Gin discuss man an mga fees and charges for the activities and use of the facilities in the Buntod Reef Marine Sanctuary and Buntod Reef Sanbar.

1. Conservation and protection of the marine sanctuary and sandbar such as but not limited to biodiversity enhancement, ecotourism promotion and laterbative livelihood support to fisherfolk organization in the area.
2. Rehabilitation or maintenance of cottages and other facilities.
3. Training and capability buildings
4 Other activities relevant to the protection, conservation and maintenance of Buntod Reef Marine Sanctuary and Sandbar and its eco-tourism services.
