The spiritual strengthening of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) centers on personal transformation, renewed hope, and preparation for successful reintegration into society.

In line with this, the Provincial Government of Masbate, through the Masbate Provincial Jail, has initiated the celebration of a monthly Holy Mass every third Tuesday of the month inside the provincial jail.

According to Provincial Jail Warden Rodel Estrella, the celebration of the Holy Mass is the result of coordination with the Prison Ministry of the Diocese of Masbate.

The Holy Mass was officiated by Reverend Father Manuel Lomboy, together with the Prison Ministry team, providing the PDLs with an opportunity to strengthen their faith, renew their hope, and reflect on their journey toward positive change.

Through this spiritual initiative, the Masbate Provincial Government continues to recognize the importance of faith, compassion, and spiritual guidance in supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of persons deprived of liberty into the community.

Masbate continues to make progress in improving the lives of its people, recording a 12.7% poverty incidence among families in 2025, down from 12.9% in 2023, based on the 2025 Full-Year Official Poverty Statistics released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

This figure places Masbate at the second-lowest poverty incidence among the six provinces of the Bicol Region, reflecting encouraging progress in the provinceโ€™s pursuit of inclusive growth and improved living conditions for Masbateรฑo families.

This achievement highlights the importance of sustained efforts to strengthen livelihoods, expand economic opportunities, and improve access to essential services. Through the continued collaboration of the Provincial Government of Masbate, local government units, partner agencies, the private sector, and communities, the province remains committed to advancing programs that create meaningful and lasting benefits for every Masbateรฑo.

While this milestone is worth recognizing, the work continues. Together, let us build a more inclusive, resilient, and progressive Masbate where every family has greater opportunities for a better quality of life.
