April 15, 2026 -πPECMC Consults Gas Station Owners, Operators on Fuel Price Hike Concerns
The Provincial Economic Crisis Management Committee (PECMC) of Lanao del Sur held a consultation meeting with gas station owners, operators, and stakeholders to address growing concerns over rising fuel prices in the province. The meeting was convened at the Social Hall of the Provincial Capitol.
In his opening remarks delivered via Zoom, Vice Governor Mohammad Khalid "Mujam" Raki-in Adiong emphasized the importance of bringing all gas station owners and operators together to openly discuss the fuel price situation affecting the province.

He further noted that the committee would provide stakeholders with updates on the implementation of the fuel price rollback being pursued by the provincial government.
Presiding Officer and Provincial Legal Services Officer Atty. Faisal Cali underscored that the meeting aimed to reach a collective agreement that would benefit fellow Meranaws amid the fuel price crisis.
One of the gas station owners, Elian Macala, shared the challenges faced by fuel retailers in the wake of price hikes. He explained that gas station owners have limited control over fuel prices, as they are bound to follow the pricing set by their suppliers.
As a constructive measure, Macala proposed the organization of all gas station owners and operators in the province into a formal association. He said that doing so would promote price uniformity and allow for better regulation of fuel prices across Lanao del Sur.
Atty. Cali, for his part, encouraged gas station owners to consider offering incentives to public utility vehicles (PUVs), noting that similar initiatives have been adopted in other areas. He clarified, however, that certain documentary requirements would need to be met by PUV operators seeking to avail of such benefits.
The meeting also tackled the possible role of local government units (LGUs) in cushioning the impact of fuel price hikes, including the provision of subsidies to affected sectors.
Key agreements reached during the meeting included the creation of a gas station owners' association, the conduct of regular calibration monitoring of fuel dispensers, price monitoring of gas stations in the province, the implementation of a price agreement, and a peso-off incentive for PUVs as a measure to ease the transport burden on commuters.
Other consumer-friendly measures were likewise discussed and considered for adoption, all aimed at protecting the welfare of the general public, particularly the Meranaw community, amid the ongoing fuel price crisis.
