MPW-BARMM Reports Sulu Infrastructure Accomplishments and Project Status
COTABATO CITY — The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) presented the accomplishments and implementation status of infrastructure projects in Sulu during a parliamentary briefing presided over by Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Member of Parliament Atty. Jose I. Lorena on Monday, July 13, at Haraya Hall.
The briefing was convened following a motion raised by Deputy Speaker Nabil A. Tan and seconded by MP Sema during the BRC-TWG discussion on other matters.
Bangsamoro Director-General Engr. Danilo A. Ong led the MPW delegation, joined by the Ministry’s directors, division chiefs, and Sulu District Engineers Ajan S. Ajijul and Az-Zamier N. Arbison.
During the briefing, District Engineers Ajijul and Arbison presented the physical accomplishments of the Sulu 1st and Sulu 2nd District Engineering Offices, highlighting completed and ongoing infrastructure projects implemented from Fiscal Years 2020 to 2025.
The presentation covered key public infrastructure investments across the province, including solar streetlights, Level II water systems, barangay roads, and community facilities. These projects have enhanced public safety, strengthened local economic activity, and expanded access to essential services for communities throughout Sulu.
The discussion also focused on the status of proposed infrastructure projects for Fiscal Year 2026 and the preparation of a comprehensive report documenting the Bangsamoro Government’s infrastructure investments in the province over the past seven years.
To further strengthen transparency and public accountability, the Ministry also announced the upcoming launch of the E-BARMM mobile application on July 16. The platform will enable the public to monitor regional infrastructure projects by providing real-time information on project locations, funding sources, implementation status, and completion.
The briefing forms part of the Ministry’s continuing efforts to ensure that infrastructure investments across Sulu are properly documented, transparently implemented, and fully accounted for.

MPW-BARMM Holds 1st Technical Services Coordination Meeting in Basilan

LAMITAN CITY, BASILAN — The Ministry of l Public Works (MPW) convened its key technical personnel from the regional and district engineering offices for its 1st Technical Services Coordination Meeting for 2026, held from July 1 to 3 in Lamitan City, Basilan.

The three-day strategic session was led by Bangsamoro Director-General Engr. Danilo A. Ong and Director II for Technical Services Engr. Salonga A. Sumampao, together with Basilan District Engineer Kasim A. Hasanin.
The meeting centered on the review of the submission status of Detailed Engineering Design (DED) plans and Program of Works for regional infrastructure projects covering Fiscal Years 2020 to 2026, as well as the preparation of pipeline projects for FY 2027 and 2028.

In his welcome message, District Engineer Hasanin underscored the importance of collaboration in advancing infrastructure development across the Bangsamoro region.

“I hope this meeting will be productive, meaningful, and filled with fruitful discussions and new ideas. Let us continue working hand-in-hand in advancing the infrastructure development of the Bangsamoro region,” Hasanin said.

Director-General Ong emphasized the critical role of early coordination and thorough planning in preventing delays during project implementation.

“Good planning is not simply about producing documents. It is about preventing delays, minimizing risks, and ensuring the efficient delivery of quality infrastructure. Resolve issues as early as possible so they do not carry over into implementation,” Ong stressed.

Echoing this directive, Director Sumampao outlined the ministry’s long-term vision for strengthening technical preparedness.

“Our goal is that by 2030, all project proposals will automatically be supported by complete and comprehensive technical documents. We are moving toward an operational standard where all proposals are consistently shovel-ready,” Sumampao said.

During the technical sessions, Planning and Programming Division Chief Macabai M. Pangamadun discussed the variance between DED plan locations and Geographic Information System (GIS) shapefiles to address project tracking discrepancies and improve alignment.

“Our plans must be consistent with actual coordinates to avoid implementation and audit issues. We will establish clear timelines through a ministry order to streamline preparation and review processes,” Pangamadun explained.

The agenda also covered key discussions on environmental and social safeguards, right-of-way (ROW) concerns, and gender and development (GAD) integration in infrastructure planning.

The activity concluded with closing remarks from Basilan DEO Planning and Design Section Chief Datu Abdelmalik I. Jaljalis, who expressed appreciation for the sustained collaboration between the Regional Office and district engineering offices.

“We extend our deepest appreciation to the Regional Office for its unwavering support and implementation guidance. This strong collaboration helps ensure the successful delivery of infrastructure projects here in Basilan,” Jaljalis said.

To reinforce practical application, delegates also conducted a field benchmarking activity across Lamitan City to align technical designs with actual site conditions.

Through regular coordination initiatives such as this, MPW continues to strengthen institutional alignment across its technical and district offices, ensuring more efficient and standardized delivery of quality infrastructure throughout the Bangsamoro region.

MPW LDS 1st DEO Turns Over Heavy Equipment for Brgy. Sandor in Baloi, Lanao del Sur

MARAWI CITY — The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) Lanao del Sur 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) officially turned over a new dump truck for the local government of Barangay Sandor, Baloi, during a ceremony held at the district office today, June 17.

Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Member of Parliament Hon. Said M. Shiek and District Engineer Abolcair S. Langilao led the formal turnover of the heavy equipment.

Procured through the initiative and sponsorship of MP Shiek, the vehicle will be utilized for essential public service functions, such as disaster response, road clearing operations, hauling of construction materials, and maintenance of local infrastructure.

MPW Lanao del Sur 1st DEO facilitated the implementation and release of the vehicle, ensuring strict compliance with government procurement standards.

This initiative forms part of the continuous collaborative efforts between the Bangsamoro Parliament and the Ministry to equip local communities with essential public service assets.

MPW-BARMM Upgrades Expanded Bangsamoro Advanced Road Mapping and Management (E-BARMM) System, Convenes Field Engineers for Technical Workshop

COTABATO CITY — The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) convened its division chiefs and district engineering focal persons for an orientation and planning workshop on May 13, 2026, to finalize the upgrading of the Expanded Bangsamoro Advanced Road Mapping and Management (E-BARMM) System.

Bangsamoro Director-General Engr. Danilo A. Ong led the activity alongside Construction Division Chief Engr. Tarhata P. Kalim and key technical officials from the regional and district engineering offices.

During his opening address, DG Ong emphasized that the upgraded digital platform serves as a vital transparency tool to prevent overlapping and inconsistencies in regional project implementation.

“Through this system, we can establish a more accurate, reliable, and updated database of road networks and project locations to support sound planning and informed decision-making,” DG Ong stated.

The Ministry partnered with WoodFields Consultants, Inc. to integrate advanced security features, geographic information system (GIS) capabilities, and a dedicated mobile application into the E-BARMM platform.

Engr. Kalim noted that the updated system is specifically designed to empower the public by providing accessible, real-time data on infrastructure projects across the Bangsamoro region.

“We wanted the participation of the community in the implementation of the projects. Even common people with mobile phones will be able to see all the infrastructure projects in their area,” she said.

Following the system demonstration by WoodFields Project Manager Dave Umali, participants spent the afternoon session conducting extensive data checking and correction.

Field engineers reviewed migrated data and filtered uploaded geotagged photos to ensure that all system inputs meet strict quality standards.

The updated E-BARMM system will undergo further technical refinements incorporating feedback from the district personnel before its scheduled public launch.

MPW-BARMM Reports Physical, Financial Milestones in Annual DAPAT

COTABATO CITY — The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) presented its physical and financial accomplishments as of December 31, 2025, before a regional panel today during the annual Directives, Accomplishments, and Performance Assessment Tracking (DAPAT).

Bangsamoro Director-General Engr. Danilo A. Ong led the official MPW delegation during the deliberation.

"This undertaking is not merely a compliance requirement nor a routine reporting mechanism but more importantly, it serves as an important platform for transparency, accountability, and constructive engagement," Ong noted during his opening statement.

He reaffirmed that despite various operational and field challenges, the ministry remains steadfast in providing quality, safe, resilient, and sustainable infrastructure projects.

Accompanying the Director-General were the ministry's key division heads and district engineers, who were present to address technical inquiries and provide immediate clarifications to the panel.

The evaluating body was composed of officials from the Office of the Senior Minister (OSM), Office of the Cabinet Secretariat (OCS), Ministry of Finance, and Budget and Management (MFBM), and the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA).

Prior to this meeting, the ministry convened intensive coordination meetings with its district and regional personnel to consolidate data and ensure strict alignment with the reporting requirements.

The DAPAT is an annual evaluation mechanism of the Bangsamoro Government designed to systematically track agency performance, ensure fiscal accountability, and align ministerial outputs with broader regional development targets.
