PLGU Hajj Medical Team Provides Vital Healthcare Support to Pilgrims

As part of its continuing commitment to the welfare and well-being of its constituents, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur once again deployed its Hajj Medical Team to serve pilgrims during this year's Hajj pilgrimage.

The Hajj Medical Mission is one of the Provincial Government's annual priority programs, aimed at ensuring that pilgrims receive timely and quality healthcare support throughout their sacred journey. Recognizing the physical demands of the pilgrimage, the medical team was tasked with providing medical consultations, monitoring health conditions, administering first aid, and responding to health-related concerns among the pilgrims.

This year's team was composed of two doctors, one nurse, and one midwife who provided dedicated medical assistance and healthcare services to the pilgrims. Their presence helped ensure that participants, particularly senior citizens and those with pre-existing medical conditions, received the care and attention they needed while fulfilling their religious obligations.

The successful implementation of this year's Hajj Medical Mission reflects the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur's unwavering commitment to delivering compassionate and responsive public service. Through this annual initiative, the provincial government continues to uphold its responsibility of promoting the health, safety, and overall well-being of pilgrims as they undertake one of the most significant journeys of their faith.

Beyond providing medical care, the deployment of the Hajj Medical Team demonstrates the Provincial Government's recognition of the importance of supporting the spiritual aspirations of its people. By ensuring that pilgrims have access to healthcare services throughout their journey, the province reaffirms its commitment to serving its constituents with compassion, dedication, and respect for their religious and cultural traditions.

May 25, 2026 | Ranaw Infirmary, Lanao del Sur

In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Ranaw Infirmary, in partnership with the Provincial Health Office – PLGU Lanao del Sur, successfully conducted the 2nd Mental Health Awareness Campaign and Distribution of Assistive Devices for patients, families, employees, students, vulnerable individuals, and community members in need of support, awareness, and compassionate care.

The activity formally opened through an inspiring message from Dr. Princess Elham A. Sacar, Provincial Health Officer II, who emphasized the importance of strengthening compassionate, inclusive, and community-based health services that care not only for physical illnesses, but also for the emotional, psychological, and social well-being of every individual in the province. She highlighted that true public service is rooted in empathy, dignity, resilience, and genuine concern for humanity — especially in communities continuously affected by disasters, displacement, conflict, poverty, emergencies, and other life stressors.

The Mental Health Awareness Lecture was facilitated by Johanna B. Mangadang, RN, Mental Health Focal Person and DRRM-H Focal Person of PHO–PLGU Lanao del Sur, who emphasized that health is not only about physical pain and visible illnesses, but also about the silent emotional wounds, trauma, anxiety, grief, stress, and psychological burdens many people carry every day.

Participants were educated about Republic Act No. 11036 or the Philippine Mental Health Act, reminding everyone that seeking help for mental health concerns is not something to fear or be ashamed of, but a protected right and a courageous act of strength and self-care. The lecture encouraged the community to break the stigma surrounding mental health and to build safer, kinder, and more supportive spaces within families, schools, workplaces, evacuation centers, and communities.

The activity also highlighted the importance of culturally-sensitive, faith-sensitive, and community-centered mental health approaches in Lanao del Sur — recognizing that healing is strengthened through compassion, understanding, spiritual connection, family support, and collective community action. Participants were reminded that caring for mental health is part of caring for human dignity and protecting the well-being of the community as a whole.

More importantly, the campaign emphasized that mental health is not only the responsibility of one patient, one family, or one office alone — but a shared responsibility of the entire community, especially in a province vulnerable to natural hazards, emergencies, armed conflict, displacement, and psychosocial stress. Through unity, empathy, and awareness, communities become stronger, safer, and more resilient.
The distribution of assistive devices also served as a symbol of hope, dignity, inclusion, and support for vulnerable individuals and families, reflecting the continuing commitment of PHO–PLGU Lanao del Sur and its partners to compassionate and people-centered public health service.

Through continuous advocacy, IEC campaigns, psychosocial support initiatives, mental health awareness lectures, and community engagement activities, the Provincial Health Office remains committed to bringing mental health services and awareness closer to every municipality, every family, and every community in the province.

📢 MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH ACTIVITY
📅 May 25, 2026
📍 Ranaw Infirmary

In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, we warmly invite everyone to attend a special lecture on mental health and well-being on May 25, 2026 at the Ranaw Infirmary.

Mental health is an important part of our overall health. It affects how we think, feel, cope with stress, and connect with other people in our daily lives. Caring for our mental health is just as important as caring for our physical health. Individuals living with disabilities, chronic illness, or injuries that limit mobility often face emotional and psychological challenges alongside physical difficulties. Through this activity, we hope to promote awareness, understanding, support, and compassion for everyone in our community.

Aside from the lecture, assistive devices for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) will also be distributed during the event.

Interested individuals may submit their requirements today and tomorrow at the Ranaw Infirmary.

• Certificate of Indigency
• Medical Abstract
• Recent Full body picture of Patient
• Active Cellphone Number

Inaanyayahan po namin ang lahat na makiisa sa pagpapalaganap ng mental health awareness at inclusive care para sa lahat.

On May 13, 2026, the Ranaw Infirmary conducted a health lecture in celebration of World Immunization Week, focusing on the importance of childhood immunization and its vital role in protecting children from preventable diseases.

The lecture was facilitated by Dr. Alyssa Rohaida Mitmug, who discussed the significance of timely vaccination in ensuring the health and well-being of children. During the session, common myths and misconceptions regarding immunization were addressed and clarified. Among the topics discussed were concerns about vaccine safety, misconceptions linking vaccines to developmental disorders, and fears regarding side effects. Dr. Mitmug emphasized that vaccines undergo strict testing and monitoring to ensure their safety and effectiveness.

The discussion also highlighted important facts about immunization, including how vaccines help strengthen a child’s immune system, prevent outbreaks of contagious diseases, and protect not only the vaccinated child but also the community through herd immunity. Parents and attendees were encouraged to complete their children’s recommended immunization schedules to provide optimal protection against diseases such as measles, polio, tuberculosis, hepatitis B, and other vaccine-preventable illnesses.

An open forum and question-and-answer portion followed the lecture, allowing participants to raise concerns and gain further understanding about childhood vaccines and immunization practices. Tokens were also distributed to participants who actively joined the discussion and participated during the activity.

The activity served as an opportunity to promote awareness, encourage informed decision-making among parents and guardians, and reinforce the importance of immunization in building healthier and safer communities.

In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Ranaw Infirmary, in partnership with the Provincial Health Office – PLGU Lanao del Sur, successfully conducted a meaningful and empowering Mental Health Awareness Lecture for patients, employees, parents, students, and community members.

The lecture was facilitated by Johanna B. Mangadang, RN, Mental Health Focal Person of PHO-PLGU Lanao del Sur, who emphasized that health is not only about physical illnesses such as cough, fever, or body pain, but also about the condition of the mind, emotions, and heart.

The session encouraged participants to understand that when a person is emotionally exhausted, mentally burdened, anxious, overwhelmed, or silently struggling, they also deserve care, compassion, understanding, and professional support. Participants were reminded that mental health is just as important as physical health, and seeking help is not a sign of weakness, but a courageous step toward healing.

More importantly, the lecture empowered everyone not to remain silent or indifferent when someone around them is struggling emotionally or mentally. Mental health is not an individual battle alone — it is a shared responsibility of families, schools, workplaces, communities, and society as a whole. Participants were encouraged to listen without judgment, show kindness, check on one another, and help spread awareness within their homes and communities.

One of the most touching parts of the activity was the open sharing of experiences from employees, parents, students, and patients who courageously expressed the different challenges, pressures, fears, and silent battles they experience every day. Many participants expressed gratitude, saying that the lecture helped them finally understand the true meaning of mental health and realize that anyone can be affected regardless of age, profession, status, or background.

In a province continuously facing natural and human-made hazards, disasters, conflict, displacement, and everyday life struggles, the activity highlighted the urgent need for unity, empathy, resilience, and collective action in breaking the stigma and misconceptions surrounding mental health.

The activity also strengthened the ongoing advocacy of the Mental Health Program through Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaigns supported under the allocated IEC budget, aimed at bringing mental health awareness closer to every family and community.

Tokens were distributed to participants as a simple gesture of appreciation for their active participation and support.
