Honoring Service, Recognizing Excellence.

Brgy Kapantaran, Marawi City, Lanao del Sur – The 4th Mechanized Infantry (KALASAG) Battalion, under LTC EUGENE C FLORES ARM (GSC) PA, held a solemn Flag Raising Ceremony to commemorate the 9th Anniversary of the Marawi Crisis. The ceremony honored the sacrifices and heroism of the soldiers who fought to restore peace and security in Marawi City.

During the activity, LTC FLORES presented a Plaque of Recognition to MAJ DIOSDADO JOSEPH P TONILON (ARM) PA for two years of dedicated and exemplary service as Battalion Operations Officer. A memento was also awarded in appreciation of his contributions to the battalion’s operational success.

In his message, MAJ TONILON thanked LTC FLORES for his leadership and guidance, and expressed gratitude to the Battalion Staff Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers, and all Kalasag troopers for their support and camaraderie throughout his tour.

The ceremony also recognized LTC FLORES’ recent award of the Command Plaque from MGEN YEGOR REY P BARROQUILLO JR PA, Commander of the 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division, during the division’s anniversary. The award cited the battalion’s Operational Excellence in Internal Security Operations, its role in dismantling the DI-Maute Group, effective counter-terrorism operations, and consistent professionalism in mission accomplishment.

"We did not seek GLORY. We sought PEACE. GLORY just found us."

Today, 28 April 2026, your KALASAG Warriors are beyond grateful and deeply honored to receive Five (5) Military Merit Medals with Spearhead Device for our latest Decisive Military Operations against the Daulah Islamiyah – Maute Group (DI-MG).

The MMM-SD was personally pinned by GEN ROMEO S BRAWNER JR, PA, Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines.

To have the CSAFP himself recognize our sacrifices, our courage, and our victories on the battlefield is an honor we will carry with pride for the rest of our lives. Every drop of sweat, every sleepless night, every risk we took in the line of fire — validated by the highest military leader of our nation.

These awards are not ours alone. We share this with every KALASAG trooper who fought, with our families who endured, and with the communities we swore to protect from the threat of terrorism.

Under the steadfast leadership of our Battalion Commander, LTC EUGENE C FLORES ARM (GSC) PA, we vow to sustain the gains of peace and remain relentless against those who threaten it.

To our CSAFP — thank you for the trust, Sir! Your presence inspired us to fight harder, serve better, and lead stronger.

We are 4th Mechanized. We are KALASAG. And we will do our BEST.

For God, Country, and People. Service Above Self. 🇵🇭
