HOSTAGE SITUATION ENDED SAFELY IN MARANTAO, LDS

A hostage-taking incident involving a 2-year-old child was successfully resolved today in Brgy. Maul Ilian, Marantao, Lanao del Sur.

At around 11:35 AM, Marantao MPS received a distress call from a concerned citizen reporting the hostage situation. Responding swiftly, personnel led by PMAJ BOBBY MARIO E EGERA, COP arrived at the scene within two minutes and began negotiations with the suspect, alias “Itlog,” a jobless male resident of the area.

While the negotiation was ongoing, key officials including PCOL CAEZAR P CABUHAT, Provincial Director, LDSPPO, PLTCOL CHRISTOPHER JAMAL O ADIONG, C, PIU, HON. AKIRA I. ALONTO, Municipal Mayor, and HON. MOHAMMAD JAMAL TANGGOTE Barangay Chairman also arrived to support the operation.

After nearly two hours of negotiation, the suspect loosened his grip on the weapon—a bolo—which allowed PMAJ EGERA and his team to subdue and arrest him safely. The child sustained minor graze wounds on the neck but was promptly brought to APMC for medical treatment and is now in stable condition.

The suspect is now under custody at Marantao MPS. Charges for violations of BP Blg. 6, Alarm and Scandal, and R.A. 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act) are being processed.

PD CABUHAT, I commend the swift and courageous response of our Marantao police led by PMAJ EGERA. Their professionalism and dedication ensured the safe rescue of the child. Let this serve as a reminder that the PNP will always stand ready to protect the most vulnerable.
