๐Ÿ“ŒGovernor Adiong Meets with Lanao del Sur AI Team to Advance โ€œRanaw InfraTrack AIโ€

Governor Mamintal โ€œBombitโ€ Alonto Adiong Jr. met today with the provincial AI Innovation Teamโ€”composed of Provincial Information Officer Salma Jayne Tamano, Nizar Badron and Hamdan Ali from the ICT Office, and Engineer Abdulhamid Usman from the Provincial Engineer's Officeโ€”to review progress on Ranaw InfraTrack AI.

This new artificial intelligence platform helps government offices track local infrastructure projects in real time, making it easier to monitor progress and reach faster, data-driven decisions. During the presentation, the Governor provided valuable feedback to help the team refine and improve the system.

The project is part of a four-month AI Innovation Mentorship and Acceleration Program for local government units, spearheaded by PLDT and Smart in partnership with the innovation consultancy Limitless Lab. Through the program, the team received hands-on coaching to pinpoint local challenges and build a working prototype. Lanao del Sur is now actively testing and fine-tuning the platform, laying a solid foundation for future expansion across the provincial government.

๐Ÿ“ŒMSU CICS Triumphs as TechSolve Hackathon 2026 Concludes

MARAWI CITY โ€” Following three intensive days of non-stop coding, strategic planning, and collaborative problem-solving, the highly anticipated TechSolve Hackathon 2026 officially concluded, crowning the brightest young tech innovators in the province. The three-day hackathon, which kicked off on July 15 at the Ranaw Business Hotel, wrapped up with a high-stakes final day featuring live demonstrations, technical evaluations, and project presentations before a panel of discerning judges.

Organized by the Provincial Information and Communications Technology Office, the competition challenged aspiring programmers and tech enthusiasts to transform real-world government hurdles into functional digital systems. ICTO Head Mahid Macadato, who opened the event by challenging participants to harness technology for the provinceโ€™s growth, expressed immense pride in the outcomes. The final day saw teams pitching viable platforms designed to drastically enhance public service delivery across various sectors in Lanao del Sur.

Taking home the grand championship title was MSU-CICS for their innovative Cooperative Information and Monitoring System. They were followed closely by PEACI in second place, who developed a highly efficient Library Management System. MSU CICS also secured the third-place spot with their Tourism Digital Records and Tourist Arrival Management System. Dansalan Polytechnic College earned fourth place for their Farmer Profiling and Record Management System, while PEACI again rounded out the top five with their PSWDO Beneficiary and Client Information Management System.

The journey to the podium was an intense test of skill and endurance. After drawing lots on the opening day, the teams spent their initial hours embedded in rigorous system design, database planning, and system integration. By the second day, participants were deep into system development and validation alongside their assigned ICTO problem owners. By the final day, the prototypes presented ranged from automated agricultural tracking to seamless social welfare distribution systems.

Through TechSolve Hackathon 2026, the Provincial Government continues to promote digital innovation and collaborative problem-solving. The ICTO emphasized that these student-led systems are vital steps toward boosting public service delivery and addressing the evolving needs of the people of Lanao del Sur.

๐Ÿ“ŒPLGU Lanao del Sur Equips Government Workforce with Artificial Intelligence Skills

The Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur, through the Information, Communication, and Technology Office (ICTO), led by Mahid Macadato, conducted the Artificial Intelligence for Government Workforce training for PLGU employees on December 17, 2025, at the Social Hall, Capitol Complex. The activity forms part of the provinceโ€™s ongoing efforts to strengthen digital transformation and enhance the efficiency of public service delivery through the responsible use of emerging technologies.

The program opened with a welcome message from ICTO Head Mahid Macadato, who highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence in modern governance. He emphasized that AI is a powerful tool that can support government employees in improving productivity, decision-making, and service delivery when applied ethically and with accountability.

The training featured a comprehensive introduction to artificial intelligence delivered by Mohammad Ali B. Ibrahim, Master Trainor from AI Ready ASEAN, who served as the resource speaker. He explained that artificial intelligence has been evolving for decades and now plays a vital role in turning everyday government tasks into smarter and faster solutions.

Participants were guided through the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and its key subsets, including machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, predictive AI, and large language models. The discussion clarified how machines can learn from data, recognize patterns, generate content such as text and images, predict outcomes based on data trends, and understand and produce human-like language. These concepts were contextualized to show their practical relevance to government operations.

A major highlight of the activity was the Hour of Code hands-on session, where participants were introduced to basic coding and trained on how to build and interact with simple AI models. The session demonstrated that AI and coding are beginner-friendly and accessible, reinforcing the idea that technology can be learned and used by everyone regardless of technical background.

The training also included practical exercises on creating role-specific AI prompts and use cases tailored to different LGU functions. This allowed participants to explore how AI tools can assist in tasks such as drafting documents, organizing information, analyzing data, and improving internal communication. Discussions on the ethical use of AI further emphasized the importance of data privacy, fairness, risk management, and accountability in government applications of artificial intelligence.

The activity concluded with an awarding and closing ceremony, recognizing the active participation of PLGU employees. Through this initiative, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur reaffirms its commitment to building a digitally capable and future-ready government workforce, leveraging innovation to promote efficiency, transparency, and improved service delivery for its constituents.
