MUST READ| RESOLUTION NO. 049-03 Series of 2026; "A RESOLUTION DIRECTING ALL FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS, NIGHT MARKETS, AND SIMILAR FOOD VENDORS OPERATING DURING THE HOLY MONTH OF RAMADAN WITHIN THE ISLAMIC CITY OF MARAWI TO STRICTLY COMPLY WITH THE PRESCRIBED CLOSING TIME OF 11:00 P.M. DURING THE LAST TEN (10) DAYS OF RAMADHAN."
This Resolution seeks to direct all food establishments, night markets, and similar food vendors operating during the Holy Month of Ramadhan within the Islamic City of Marawi to strictly comply with the prescribed closing time of 11:00 P.M. during the last ten (10) days of Ramadhan.
During the Ramadhan season, evening food bazaars and night markets have become popular gathering places for residents and visitors following the breaking of the fast (Iftar). While these activities contribute to the vibrancy of the community and provide opportunities for local economic activity, it has been observed that some establishments continue to operate well beyond the established closing hours.
Such extended operations may unintentionally disturb the solemnity of the last ten nights of Ramadhan, which hold special spiritual significance for Muslims, particularly in anticipation of Laylatul Qadr, a sacred night devoted to prayer, reflection, and acts of worship. As a predominantly Muslim city, it is important that community activities during this time remain respectful of the spiritual atmosphere that these sacred nights demand.
By encouraging strict observance of the prescribed closing time, the City Government also seeks to maintain public safety, peace and order, and a family-friendly environment for residents and visitors alike.
Ultimately, this Resolution affirms our commitment as a local legislative body to uphold the cultural and religious values of our community while ensuring orderly and responsible conduct of activities within the city.
