MP Ali Montaha Babao's Office Extends P1 Million Aid to Dr. Abdullah Hospital in Marawi City for 'Operation Cataract' Medical Outreach

13 December 2022 | Mother Committee Deliberation of the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE)

MP Babao congratulates MBHTE Minister MP Mohagher Iqbal during the mother committee deliberation of the MBHTE last 13 December 2022 as being known to almost closely to the whole BARMM constituents.

MP Babao raised several questions during the deliberation of the MBHTE. He requested the MBHTE to present the BUR of every agency attached to the Ministry. He explained that he wanted to know how much is appropriated for Madaris, Basic Education, Higher Education, and TESDA.

MP Babao also questioned the budget not spent during the year. He reiterated that there should be equitable distribution for all the 5 provinces. He complimented the Ministry and the Minister for all the benefits the teachers get, and the learning materials for the students.

Minister Iqbal also shared the Scholarships available for Higher Education and Technical Education. MP Iqbal shared that the goal is to have full access to higher and modern education. The scholarship has 1, 400 slots for the first year. During the 2nd cohort, there were 700 slots that were appropriated in 2022. The criteria is 90% merit based. There is also an examination qualification. During the exam for 2022, there are 100 slots for each province

MP Babao also shared his calculation with MP Anayatin’s that since there are currently 900, 000 students, by the next enrollment, the number will increase to 1 million. At this rate,there will be 45 students per classroom. He then raised that the vacancy of the plantilla position should be filled in.

MP Babao moved to approve the budget of the MBHTE 27, 251, 090, 333.00 Php for the Fiscal Year 2023. He shared that he has a lot of hope for the education system in the BARMM since the MBHTE ‘s Minister is a mujahidden who implements Moral Governance.

CFBM Chairman, MP Eduard Guerra has approved the budget for MBHTE is 27, 251, 090, 333.00. MFBM Minister MP Baids Pacasem added an additional 20 Million Php for the Palarong Pambansa and Special Provision of 2 million Php for the Consultancy Programs for the IPs.

In the 22 November 2022 Session, MP Babao informed the government of the day the resolution he had filed creating the Special Committee on Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP -EAGA). He discussed the creation of BIMP EAGA in 1994 and explained its importance to the BARMM. He added that the creation of the said special committee will function and focus on the socio-economic situation with the countries of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. He shared that there is also a committee of BIMP-EAGA in the Congress of the Philippines.

The Bangsamoro Parliament convened for its regular session on November 21, 2022, wherein eight proposed bills were introduced on first reading; three (3) on second reading; and one (1) Resolution which was adopted by the body.

In the said adopted resolution, the Parliament is appealing to his Excellency President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to extend the application period for the grant of amnesty to Moro Islamic Liberation Front (M**F) and Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) members.

Other proposed resolutions were referred to different parliamentary and statutory committees.

On November 03, 04, 09, 2022, Committee on Finance, Budget and Management (CFBM) Subcommittee G, deliberated the proposed budget of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC).
