The Open Court of the MSU-College of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (CSPEAR), Mindanao State University, came alive with energy and excitement on June 24, 2026, as students gathered for DribbleUSA: Free Throw Competition, a program that celebrated not just only the sport of basketball but also to celebrate the United States of Americaβs 250th Anniversary on July 4th.
The event commenced with an engaging lecture on the History of Basketball delivered by Mr. Allan Kim Jay V. Cabana, faculty member of the MSU-CSPEAR. His presentation provided participants with a deeper appreciation of the sportβs origins, evolution, and global influence, setting the stage for an afternoon of friendly competition and sportsmanship. Following the lecture, participants showcased their skills, focus, and determination in the free throw competition, demonstrating the values of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance that basketball continues to inspire around the world.
A significant highlight of the program was the turnover of 15 basketballs from American Corner Marawi to the MSU-CSPEAR, reaffirming a shared commitment to youth development, sports engagement, and educational opportunities through collaborative initiatives.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Mr. Allan Kim Jay V. Cabana, to Dr. Mirian P. Aman, Dean of MSU-CSPEAR, for her invaluable support and for the collaboration, and to all participants, organizers, volunteers, and supporters whose contributions made this event a success.
Congratulations to all the winners and participants for making DribbleUSA: Free Throw Competition a memorable celebration of sportsmanship, learning, and the enduring cultural connections fostered through basketball.
