On 08 June 2026, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck the Municipality of Glan in Sarangani Province, causing widespread devastation and leaving many families with damaged or destroyed homes. In response to the catastrophe, which left approximately 13,000 houses destroyed in Glan, the 52nd Engineer Brigade, Philippine Army activated Task Force Glan, as mandated by the Eastern Mindanao Command, to intensify the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) operations on the ground and support the recovery efforts of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Glan.
As Army Engineer Responders, the Brigade deployed its two battalions, namely the 512th Engineer Construction Battalion and the 534th Engineer Construction Battalion, to support the rehabilitation and restoration operations in the municipality. The battalions, together with the 504th Combat Engineer Battalion, were tasked to construct temporary shelters for the displaced residents in Poblacion, Glan.
Beyond the construction of temporary shelters, the Brigade's battalion carried out other critical HADR missions across the municipality. The KAAGAPAY Battalion responded to the landslide incident in Rio del Pilar, Glan, where communities suffered extensive damage and loss of livelihoods. The battalion also deployed its heavy equipment to conduct road rehabilitation and gravelling operations in Sitio Lanaran, Barangay Kaltuad, restoring access to isolated communities and facilitating the delivery of relief assistance and other essential services.
To date, 30 temporary homes have been completed, providing displaced families with safe shelter as rehabilitation efforts continue. Through its deployed engineer units, the 52nd Engineer Brigade continues to support the mission of Task Force Glan by constructing temporary shelters and carrying out engineering tasks in support of the municipality's recovery efforts.
