To promote student welfare and strengthen community partnership, Mankayan National High School joined forces with the General Parents-Teachers Association (GPTA) to launch a home visitation initiative on July 16, 2026.

โ€‹Led by GPTA President Mardon Domilos and School Head Sharon B. Angupa, the monitoring team, composed of GPTA officers, class Advisers, Head Teacher, and the school guidawnce associate, aims to check on learners at home and reduce chronic absenteeism.

โ€‹The initiative specifically targets students exhibiting behavioral challenges or frequent absences to prevent disruptions to their academic progress and ensure a safe school environment.

โ€‹During the home visits, Guidance Associate Mylene M. Rosendo presented psychosocial activities tailored for the involved students. She also urged parents to remain vigilant in monitoring their children's behavior both at home and in school.

โ€‹School authorities emphasized that the program highlights a shared responsibility between the school administration and the community in fostering student development.

โ€‹โ€‹โ€œThis initiative represents a true partnership by working together, we can build a better school environment and ensure our students get the support they need,โ€ Angupa said.

โ€‹Domilos echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the power of active collaboration in addressing student challenges.

โ€‹โ€œBy helping each other and offering a hand as parents and teachers, we can lessen the problems,โ€ Domilos said.

โ€‹To maximize the reach of the initiative, the monitoring group was divided into two teams tasked with visiting the households of identified students.

Mankayan NHS seats new GPTA, employee leaders to push for safer, student-centered campus

Mankayan National High School (MNHS) officially brought together its new team of parent, teacher, and staff leaders for School Year 2026โ€“2027 during a joint induction ceremony at the school covered court on July 1.

โ€‹The 4:00 PM transition ceremony united three vital campus groups: the Mankayan National High School Employees Association (MNHSEA), the General Parent-Teacher Association (GPTA), and the Classroom Parent-Teacher Association (CPTA).

โ€‹Dr. Sharon B. Angupa, School Principal IV, anchored the administrationโ€™s goals on student safety and building better campus facilities, challenging the incoming officers to design projects that directly help the student body. Angupa emphasized that the shared goal must be to transform the campus into an environment that is both safe and motivating for learners.

โ€‹Hon. Mateo B. Batane, who served as both the inducting officer and guest speaker, administered the oath of office. In a sharp message to the new leaders, Batane warned against sitting back comfortably, stressing that public service demands long-term hard work over mere formality.

โ€‹"The oath-taking is not for compliance," Batane told the newly elected officials, challenging them to study the past successes of the current leadership to better serve the school community. "Let's help each other for the sake of Mankayan NHS."

โ€‹Accepting the leadership role, newly installed GPTA President Mardon Domilos challenged his fellow parents and stakeholders to step out of the sidelines and take an active role in school governance. Domilos said that attending school meetings remains the single most critical factor in driving institutional success.

โ€‹"Let's do our part together," Domilos added.

โ€‹The presentation of the incoming organizational officers was spearheaded by key school personnel, with Administrative Officer IV Hanky Mae B. Aten-an presenting the MNHSEA, Master Teacher I Winston N. Ros introducing the CPTA, and Dr. Angupa presenting the GPTA officers.

โ€‹The program concluded with a message of commitment from GPTA Vice President Marvin M. Balagsa and a closing prayer led by Head Teacher III Melenia K. Cabatan.

Students and school personnel of Mankayan National High School participated in the second quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) at 9:00 a.m. today, June 18.

โ€‹The nationwide drill aims to prepare the public for earthquakes.

โ€‹When the siren sounded, students did the "Duck, Cover, and Hold" protocol under their desks. A second siren signaled the evacuation, and students walked along exit routes toward the school's open ground.

โ€‹During the post-drill assembly, MNHS School Principal Sharon B. Angupa told the students to take the quarterly exercises seriously.

โ€‹"Do it religiously," Angupa said, emphasizing that proper practice ensures actual survival.

โ€‹Meanwhile, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Coordinator Analyn Dalang and Head Teacher Heintjie Dominguez stated that the school still needs to work on some improvements.

โ€‹School authorities said regular drills are necessary for the mountain region because the Cordillera provinces are prone to earthquakes and landslides.

Mankayan National High School (MNHS) officially ushered in a new roster of student leaders as club and classroom officers took their solemn oath of office during a ceremony following the regular flag-raising rites on Monday, June 15.

โ€‹School Principal Sharon B. Angupa administered the oath to the newly elected student officials, formally charging them with the responsibility of leading the campus community for the current school year.

โ€‹The ceremony commenced following the morning flag ceremony and physical exercises, which were spearheaded by the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG).

โ€‹Winston Ros, SSLG adviser, introduced the official members of the highest student governing body before the organizational presidents and lower-ranking officers were called to the stage to take their vows.

โ€‹Among the prominent campus organizations that participated in the mass oath-taking were the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG), Communication Arts (Com-Arts) Club, Siklab Diwa Drum and Lyre Corps, Sekad, Sert, Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD), Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (Yes-O), APESS, Student Technologists and Entrepreneurs of the Philippines (STEP), Historical Club, and the Mathematics Club.

โ€‹In her keynote address, Angupa formally recognized each student organization while delivering a reminder on the weight of leadership. The principal issued polite warnings regarding the accountabilities and expectations tied to being a student-leader, urging the new officers to balance their academic duties with their responsibilities to the school.

โ€‹The joint installation sets the groundwork for the school's upcoming co-curricular projects and student-led initiatives across various academic and civic fields.
