With the onset of the rainy season and the increased occurrence of typhoons, strong winds, heavy rains, flooding, earthquake and other severe weather disturbances, ALECO respectfully seeks the continued cooperation and support of your Local Government Unit (LGU) in promoting public safety and minimizing risks associated with electrical hazards.
Strong winds and adverse weather conditions may cause trees, debris, and other objects to come into contact with electrical facilities, resulting in damaged poles, broken power lines, and power interruptions. In this regard, we respectfully request your assistance in disseminating the "Electrical Safety Tips" advisory by posting it on your bulletin boards and official social media pages. We also- encourage you to remind your constituents to observe the electrical safety precautions contained in the advisory. For your convenience, please scan the QR code below to access the Facebook post. Specifically, we request your assistance in promoting the following safety reminders:
1. Advise the public to immediately report fallen electric poles, dangling or broken wires, damaged transformers, and other hazardous electrical facilities to ALECO or the concerned Barangay officials.
2. Remind residents to stay away from fallen or damaged electrical wires and to always assume they are energized.
3. In coordination with ALECO, encourage property owners to trim or remove tree branches that may pose a danger to power lines.
4. Advise residents to secure roofs, signages, billboards, and other loose materials that may be blown onto electrical lines during strong winds.
5. Encourage households in flood-prone areas to switch off their main circuit breaker whenever flooding threatens their homes, provided it is safe to do so.
6. Remind the public not to repair, reconnect, or tamper with damaged electrical facilities or service connections.
7. Request the assistance of Barangay officials and emergency response teams in reporting electrical hazards and securing affected areas until ALECO personnel arrive.
8. During restoration activities, we likewise request the assistance of your LGU in ensuring that work areas remain clear and safe so that our line crews can efficiently restore electric service ALECO remains committed to restoring electric service as quickly as possible following weather-related disturbances. However, all restoration activities shall be undertaken with the highest regard for the safety of the public and our personnel.
We trust that through the continued partnership between ALECO and your Local Government Unit, we can enhance community preparedness, reduce electrical hazards, and ensure a safer environment for all, especially during periods of severe weather.
