DENNIS N. MARASIGAN
Director. Writer. Lighting Designer. Actor. Producer, Teacher. Learner.

Dennis N. Marasigan is a theater, film and television director, writer, lighting designer, actor, producer, and mentor.

He graduated BA Theater Arts and Master of Public Administration from the University of the Philippines and served on the faculty of different universities and colleges. Through various grants and scholarships, he observed theater and film practices in various countries in Asia, Europe and North America. He has also held key positions in various institutions and cultural organizations, such as the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), Tanghalang Pilipino, Philippine Legitimate Stage Artists Group (PHILSTAGE), Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) and the Federation for Asian Cultural Promotion (FACP).

At present, he holds the position of Vice-President and Artistic Director of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, while continuing to mentor young artists while finding time for his creative pursuits in the various media and performing arts.

Pasundayag Dula serves as the centerpiece of the Buswak 2025: 19th Tanghal Mindanao Theater Festival, featuring a series of live theater performances that highlight the rich and varied theatrical traditions of Mindanao. This main festival component provides a stage for theater companies to present their most compelling works. Performances feature diverse productions that encompass a wide range of genres that reflect both contemporary social issues and the cultural heritage of the regions they represent. Post-performance talkbacks and discussions will be held to engage audiences in meaningful conversations about the themes explored in the productions, encouraging a deeper understanding of the role of theater in social commentary and cultural preservation.

Pasundayag Dula Extra Fringe features Beyond Fortress Collective, Ozamiz City, and the El Teatro Azul of Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology.

Hisgot Dula is a mini-theater conference/discussion that serves as a forum for discussing practices in theater production, management, audience engagement, networking, and collaboration. This component aims to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the Mindanao theater community. The conference will feature presentations by leading theater practitioners, scholars, and cultural advocates. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from case studies and success stories of theater companies that have effectively navigated challenges and achieved notable successes in their artistic endeavors. It also provides a unique networking opportunity for theater practitioners to connect, share ideas, and explore potential collaborations, thereby strengthening bonds within the theater community and fostering a more cohesive, supportive network of artists.

Hisgot Dula will take place on November 15, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the NMSCST Convention Hall, Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology, Labuyo, Tangub City, Misamis Occidental.

Buswak 2025: 19th Tanghal Mindanao Theater Festival is a 3-day celebration of ‘Mindanao theaters’, designed to bring together theater practitioners, artists, and communities from across the different regions in Mindanao. The festival is a dynamic platform that aims to showcase the diverse theatrical expressions of the Mindanao region while promoting cultural exchange, skill development, and dialogue on contemporary theater practices. The festival features three key components: Pasundayag Dula (theater performances), Bansay Dula (theater workshops), and Hisgot Dula (a theater conference on best practices).

Buswak 2025: 19th Tanghal Mindanao Theater Festival is a project of the National Committee on Dramatic Arts of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, that is administratively managed by the Youth Advocates Through Theater Arts. The Mindanao leg is hosted by Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology, through the Office of Student Affairs and Services, and the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, and the NMSCST Development Communication Society.

Join us for a 3-day immersive theater experience at the Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology, Labuyo, Tangub City, Misamis Occidental on November 13-15, 2025.
