Regional English Language Office - Manila Supports the Philippines, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Brunei The Manila Office is one of 25 such offices located in U.S.

The Regional English Language Office is committed to improving English language teaching quality through capacity building initiatives which include curriculum, assessment and materials development along with teacher training and professional development opportunities for educators. The Office works with Ministries of Education, Departments of Education, and higher education institutes on curricul

um development and reform in conjunction with English Language Fellows, English Language Specialists, alumni of U.S.-sponsored programs and other key contacts in the field of teaching and learning English in partnership with pedagogical faculties and institutions. The Office works through the Public Affairs Sections (PAS) of each country to create and implement projects and programs related to English language teaching by providing training opportunities, expertise and materials. Embassies around the world that are coordinated by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Office of English Language Programs. The Regional English Language Office at the U.S Embassy in the Philippines (RELO Manila) is offering Online Professional English Network (OPEN) scholarships to English language teaching professionals to attend eight-week, online graduate-level courses offered by U.S. universities. The Online Professional English Network ( ) program offers virtual learning opportunities to foreign English language educators, professionals and learners worldwide. OPEN promotes mutual exchange of culture and provides free access to teaching and learning materials which can be reused, adapted and shared with others. OPEN professional development opportunities are sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and created by U.S. academic institutions and experts in the field of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).

Due to the lapse in appropriations, the U.S. Embassy's Facebook, X, and Instagram accounts will not be updated regularly until full operations resume, with the exception of urgent safety and security information.

At this time, scheduled visa interviews and American Citizens Services appointments at the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines will proceed as scheduled during the lapse in appropriations. The offsite Visa Application Center in Parqal, Parañaque City, will also remain open for visa applicants who are scheduled for photo and fingerprint collection.

The public may continue to contact the Consular Section through [email protected] (for U.S. Citizens) or ph.usembassy.gov/contact-us-visas/ (for visa applicants).
