KKFI: Caring and Liberating Tradition of Faithful Service
“Our struggles for human dignity and social reform have been a response to God’s demand for love, mercy, and justice.” (p. 49, The United Methodist Church Book of Discipline, Our Doctrinal Heritage)

Kapatiran-Kaunlaran Foundation, Inc. (KKFI), formerly known as the Methodist Social Center (MSC), was born as a response to the challenge to w

ork among and with the poor in their journey towards genuine human development. Ms Madaleine G. Klepper, a Methodist missionary, and her friends lighted the torch of faithful Christian service that continues to be a beacon of hope for the poor and powerless. For 72 years now, KKFi has worked as an ecumenical institution with the basic sectors of our society. In its work with the poor and marginalized, it starts from where the people are and builds on what they have. In the process, it has served as their partner in their continuing capacity-building, empowerment and self-reliance. Imbued with the same vision and courage that led Ms Klepper to translate her Christian faith and Methodist heritage by working with the poor, the people who also became part of KKFI as well as its current corps of servant-workers continued and will continue to selflessly share their time and resources in the pursuit of this mission—to serve the disadvantaged in a caring and liberating way and to journey with them in building a new heaven and a new earth.

Celebrating the life of a dedicated servant. Dr. Betty Imperial Molina will never be forgotten.

Dr. Molina or Ma’am Betty joined KKFI as a corporate and board member in 1989. For close to four decades, Mrs. Molina helped steer KKFI’s programs and governance towards the promotion of social justice and community empowerment. As a member of the KKFI Program Committee, she drew extensively from her professional background as a social worker, academic, advocate, and church leader in helping ensure that the KKFI program, projects, and services remained relevant and rooted in the lives, experiences, and aspirations of marginalized peoples and communities.

An alumna of the College of Social Work and Community Development, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Dr. Molina’s years of dedicated service and leadership in various academic and civil society organizations have been marked with integrity, compassion, honor, and excellence.

May the memories of Dr. Molina continue to inspire all of us to pursue a life of caring and liberating service to the least of our brethren.
