This is Ronald D. Rumford, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served during the Vietnam era from 1967 to 1969.

To his country, he was a Marine and a Vietnam Veteran. But to the people who loved him, Ronald was so much more.

He was a husband, father, and grandfather — a man who built a life and family after returning home from a war that would stay with him long after his uniform was put away.

Like thousands of Vietnam veterans who came home and later suffered the consequences of their service, Ronald's family attributes his later health struggles and passing to Agent Orange exposure. His name was later included in the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund's 2022 In Memory program, which honors Vietnam veterans who returned home and later died as a result of illnesses or other consequences connected to their service.

His wife, Sandy, remembered the man behind the uniform with words that say everything:

“To my husband of 53 years… wonderful husband, dad and granddad. We lost you too early from Agent Orange exposure. RIP, my love. See you on the other side.”

Fifty-three years of marriage.
A lifetime of memories.
A family left carrying his love forward.

Ronald may be gone, but his service, his sacrifice, and the life he built will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

Christopher Michael “Chris” Carlisle was a retired U.S. Marine Corps 1st Sgt. who dedicated 20 years of his life to the Marine Corps, including three combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

A decorated combat veteran and Purple Heart recipient, Chris was known not only for his leadership and courage, but also for the people he helped along the way.

After retiring from the Marine Corps in 2016, Chris continued serving veterans through Mighty Oaks Warrior Programs and remained deeply involved with organizations supporting wounded and combat veterans.

On August 18, 2017, Chris tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident while racing with the Warrior Built organization during the Vegas to Reno off-road race. He was 39 years old.

But Chris was much more than his uniform.

He was a devoted father to Dylan, Megan, and Hailey — a son, brother, uncle, mentor, and loyal friend. His family remembered him as a natural leader and the “leader of the pack.”

His service ended, but his impact did not.

The people he served, the Marines he led, the veterans he helped, and the family who loved him continue to carry his memory forward.

Rest in peace, 1st Sgt. Chris Carlisle. 🇺🇸
