OVERVIEW:
The Department of Labor and Employment-National Capital Region (DOLE–NCR) is the premier Regional Office responsible for the implementation of policies and programs that promote gainful employment opportunities, develop human resources, protect the welfare and advancement of workers, and maintain harmonious industrial relations between and among the workers and employers in Metro Manila
. It addresses the needs of about 5.062 million workers in 16 cities namely: Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Manila, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Pasay, Pasig, Quezon, Taguig, Valenzuela Navotas, San Juan and the Municipality of Pateros. HISTORY:
National Capital Region also called Metropolitan Manila, is the capital of the Philippines. Metro Manila is the smallest among the regions in the Philippines in terms of land area with only 636 square kilometers, but is among the thirty most populous metropolitan areas in the world. It is the most densely populated region in the country with a population of 11,553,427 million and with a population density of 18,650 person per square kilometer (2007 census). Under the Integrated Re-organization Plan (IPR) which took effect in July 1975, the Regional Office for Metro Manila was created and was called Region 4. Pursuant to Presidential Decree 879 in January 1976, Region 4 was divided into two regions namely Region 4 covering Metro Manila and Region 4A covering Southern Tagalog Region, for purposes of administrative field organization of the various departments and agencies of government. By Virtue of Presidential Decree 1396, June 2, 1978, under section three, Region Four was renamed National Capital Region in view of its critical importance to human settlement developments. VISION:
