History is alive in stamps!
Earlier, Santo Niño at 500 commemorated the first baptism held on this archipelago, five hundred years ago today. We recognize the importance of Señor Santo Niño not only to Cebuanos but to all Filipinos who share the Catholic faith.

Happy stamp collecting!
Stamps are commissioned for important moments from our history, featuring our culture and heritage while showcasing our country’s many manifestations of art. The milestone commemoration of the arrival of the image of Señor Santo Niño is one such important moment that recalls the uniqueness of Filipino culture.
The Santo Niño is widely honored with festivals in the Philippines. Filipinos have empathized with the image of the Child Jesus. This has resulted in an inculcation into our native culture that is still strongly felt, even five hundred years on. The icon resides in the Filipino psyche because it reiterates the fatherly guidance of the Creator while emphasizing the values of purity and a kind of unwavering, instinctive trust children have towards their parents.
The se-tenant pair features a close-up of the image of the Santo Niño, decked in royal regalia. Opposite it is the logo representing the "Santo Niño at 500" commemorations, with the dates 1521 and 2021 flanking its left and right sides. Below, the inscription “Santo Niño, the abiding presence of the Father in our journey of faith” is displayed.
