BUILDING CAPACITY FOR FINANCIAL EXCELLENCE: TRAINING-THE-TRAINERS ON THE INTEGRATED FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM (IFMIS)
LOOK: The Office of the Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Comptrollership. CG-6, under the leadership of the PCG Comptroller, COMMO DOROTHY D MANGLICMOT PCG, recently conducted the “Train-the-Trainer” from 17-19 March 2026 at Bayview Park Hotel, Manila.
The said initiative aims to equip the personnel from the O/CG-6, Coast Guard Accounting Service Office (CGASO), and Coast Guard Finance Service (CGFS) with the upgraded features of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS).
During her welcome remarks, COMMO MANGLICMOT PCG emphasized the essence of financial management, which involves responsible and timely planning, budgeting, and reporting. She added the launching of the IFMIS on 04 February 2026, which was a major milestone projecting progress, perseverance, and a shared goal for all PCG units. COMMO MANGLICMOT PCG also challenged all participants to actively participate and ensure to provide inputs in making the training more fruitful.
The three-day event constituted an intensive lecture and training from two experts in the said field, LTCOL NOAH M HERNANDEZ PROF and Mr Federico P Amorada. The participants were given hands-on training, allowing them to fully grasp version three of the system.
VADM HOSTILLO ARTURO E CORNELIO PCG, Deputy Commandant for Administration, PCG, graced the event as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. During his remarks, he highlighted the importance of innovating systems, which was the goal of the O/CG-6 in collaboration with other PCG units. VADM CORNELIO PCG then added that planning needs to be standardized, structured, and data-driven, allowing an effective and efficient utilization of the funds of the Command.
Further, this effort not only enhanced the capabilities of PCG personnel in budgeting, procurement planning, and IFMIS encoding but also reinforced the Command’s commitment to efficient resource management and strengthened operational readiness in service to the Filipino people. After such, different sets of training are programmed to ensure that all PCG units are well-equipped with the upgraded system.
