On May 25, 2026, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Mangatarem under the leadership of Mayor Hon. Jensen F. Viray, through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) headed by Engr. Jessie N. Sacopla, conducted a Canal Clean-Up Drive along Calvo Road at Mangatarem Public Market.
The activity focused on removing scattered garbage, plastics, and other waste materials from the canal to help prevent clogged waterways and maintain the cleanliness of the area.
In partnership with the Pangasinan Parole and Probation Office No. 1 headed by CPPO Nicanor K. Taron, together with his clients who rendered their community service through active participation in the clean-up drive, and with the support of the Barangay Council of Brgy. Calvo, the activity became a successful example of unity, cooperation, and environmental responsibility.
The public is also encouraged to avoid throwing plastics and other waste materials into canals and waterways, and to practice proper waste disposal to help keep the community clean, safe, and environmentally friendly.

On behalf of our beloved Mayor, Jensen F. Viray Ventenilla, who continues the meaningful project started by our former beloved Mayor, Ramil Ventenilla, the “Palit Basura” program continues to serve as a symbol of unity, responsibility, and care for our environment. This initiative allows recyclable materials exchanged by our fellow citizens of Mangatarem to be transformed into useful and valuable products through the efforts of MENRO Mangatarem, proving that what others may consider waste can still become something beneficial.
Under the leadership of MENRO Designate, Engr. Jessie N. Sacopla, we extend our heartfelt appreciation and sincerest gratitude to the Brgy. Council and SK Council of Barangay Torre 1st, Barangay Torre 2nd, and Brgy. Dorongan Ketaket, and to everyone who actively joined, supported, and united with us in this meaningful program. Your participation is more than just helping collect waste—it is a commitment to creating a cleaner environment and a brighter future for the next generation.
We encourage everyone to continue participating and inspire more people to become part of this movement. Let us remember that no effort is too small when it comes to protecting our environment. Every bottle collected, every recyclable item exchanged, and every helping hand offered creates a positive impact on our community. Together, we are not only reducing waste—we are building hope, strengthening unity, and creating a healthier and greener Mangatarem for all.

SITE VISIT | M.AA Integrated Waste Solution Corporation

On May 21, 2026 the Local Government Unit of Mangatarem, under the leadership of Hon. Jensen F. Viray, through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), together with the Honorable Vice Mayor, Members of the Sangguniang Bayan, and SK Federation President, conducted a site visit at the facility of M.AA Integrated Waste Solution Corporation in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.
The activity aimed to observe and assess the company’s waste management operations, processes, and environmental practices as part of the municipality’s continuing efforts to strengthen solid waste management programs and promote sustainable environmental initiatives in the Municipality of Mangatarem.
The site visit also served as an opportunity to strengthen coordination and discuss continuing collaborative efforts in promoting proper waste management and environmental sustainability programs for the benefit of the community.
