Through the National Youth Commission, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Japan (MOFA-Japan) will organize the JENESYS 2023 Inbound Program Japan-Philippines Exchange.
The Program aims at promoting mutual trust and understanding among the peoples of Japan and the Philippines and building a basis for future friendship and cooperation. It also encourages an understanding of Japan’s economy, society, history, diverse culture, politics, and diplomatic relations.
The purpose of this program is to deepen mutual understanding through sports. It also aims to help make FIBA Basketball World Cup which will be held in Japan, Philippines, and Indonesia more exciting.
The program will be held on August 21, 2023 (Online Pre-Exchange Program) and on August 29, 2023 – September 5, 2023, in Tokyo and local city in Japan.
The NYC will be nominating 10 High School Students to attend the event.
Qualifications for Participants
● First-time traveler to Japan.
● Fully vaccinated (with 1st and 2nd dose with at least 1 booster shot)
● FILIPINO citizen currently residing in the Philippines. Those who have permanent resident status may be accepted.
● For High School Students, 15 -18 years old, single.
● Knowledgeable in sports, specifically in basketball.
● A member of their school basketball team/school basketball club or local basketball club member (or any local private club).
● Must be officially enrolled in any Philippine-based High School.
● Has a good command of written and spoken English.
● Physically fit.
● With valid Philippine passport (valid until April 5, 2024).
● With PSA-issued Birth Certificate.
● Must be able to attend & participate during the whole duration of the program in Tokyo and other places in Japan.
● Must be able to attend the online pre-departure orientation via Zoom on August 20, 2023.
● Must be able to attend the pre-departure orientation in NYC Central Office, Quezon City a day before scheduled departure.
● Must be willing to be an NYC volunteer and to comply with post-program obligations.
Requirements:
● Fill up the NYC International Programs’ Online Application Form https://forms.gle/zBpARnNngg2Y94uM9 via google form completely and accurately.
● Scanned copy of Philippine Passport valid until April 5, 2024 (upload via google form)
● Scanned copy of PSA-issued birth certificate (upload via google form)
● Updated Curriculum Vitae (upload via google form)
● Certification from school (with school seal) that applicant is officially enrolled (for students).
● Certification as member of their school basketball team/school basketball club or local basketball club member (or any local private club).
● With PSA-issued Birth Certificate.
● Vaccination card issued by the Department of Health with QR code or Bureau of Quarantine yellow card.
Expenses:
● The Organizer will shoulder the accommodation, local transportation in Japan, travel insurance and roundtrip economy airfare.
● Delegates will shoulder their travel expenses from their residence (province) to NAIA and back, as well as their accommodation in Quezon City for the pre-departure briefing in NYC Central Office a day before their schedule departure, medical expenses and other personal expenses that may arise during the trip.
● Delegates will shoulder personal expenses such as travel insurance, medical expenses during the trip among others.
The following are automatically disqualified:
● Those who have Japanese nationality.
● Applicants who have been to Japan.
● Applicants who have participated in any programs funded by the Japanese government.
● Applicants who have studied in Japan for long term.
● Participants of NYC-coordinated international programs from September 6, 2018 until the present whose airfare, accommodation, and meals were paid for by the organizer.
● Participants of NYC-coordinated international programs from September 6, 2021, until the present whose airfare was shouldered by the participants and whose accommodation and meals were paid for by the organizer.
● Previous NYC International Programs Beneficiaries who have not submitted or accomplished the required post-program obligations and render or completed their required volunteer work hours.
● Incomplete requirements and follow-up requirements would not be entertained once passed deadline.
