The Rizal-Bonifacio Memorial Library ( Better Known as Mandaue City Public Library ) was inaugurated on June 19, 1954, the birthday of our National Hero, Jose Rizal. the said library is a landmark project of the people of Mandaue. The idea of honoring our National hero, Jose Rizal and the Great Proletariant , Andres Bonifacio who led the armed revolt against Spanish Authorities, came just after t

he country recovered from World War II. The organizers were concious that mandaue also had sons and daughter who were less patriotic than the heroes of the philippine Revolution, but they chose to honor Rizal and Bonifacio and they contributed whatever they could for the project no matter its highcost at the time. The memorial library is a round shaped structure which features a stage flanked by the statues of Jose Rizal and Andres Bonifacio facing each other. it has a groundfloor which would house the library. at the uppermost level is a Helix which, according to Archt. Espina, Symbolizes the " Filipinos' tortuous struggle for independence".
